When will #4 be retired?

PrintIf they afford Downing the honor, which they should, then shouldn't #4 be there as well?
Personally, I woulda retired #4 before Rod Carew's number 29. Rod's 7 years did contain two division titles, but there are several others that no doubt deserve the honor. Salmon comes to mind, as well.

I saw him after ALDS Game 5
"Bobby, when are they gonna retire Number 4?"
He looks up, smiles, gives a thumbs up, shouts something affirmative like "Who Knows," or an equally inncuous pleasantry, goes back to intense conversation with three chicks.
