Who pitches the 7th?
Shields again? Escobar?

I'm not sure it makes sense to burn through a bunch of pitchers early in a tie game with two offenses that look so bad.

the best thing
about mike as a manager in the playoff is that he realizes that the playoffs are a small sample size, and doesn't really leave anything in the tank, goes all out every game, and i think that's essential for playoff success...i think he's become progressively better at this with the more playoff managing experience he has had.

Day off tomorrow
... so it doesn't matter as much.
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

I don't like this new thread thing
It's too "Athletics Nation of little bitches" for me.

by LA Seitz on Oct 12, 2005 7:33 PM PDT reply actions

Agreed.
I feel like complaining about payroll.

by Pearly Gates on Oct 12, 2005 7:34 PM PDT up reply actions

Buerhle count
7 IP, 79 pitches.

At this rate, dude might go 11.

by adesai @ Halos Heaven on Oct 12, 2005 7:33 PM PDT reply actions

Whatever
Time to pinch hit for Vlad next time he comes up. Juan Rivera, anyone?
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Huh?
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

by scareduck on Oct 12, 2005 7:37 PM PDT up reply actions

Joke about your hopeless negativism
but it missed the mark, apparently.

by Pearly Gates on Oct 12, 2005 7:39 PM PDT up reply actions

Who pitches the 10th?
If we go that far, with Escobar pitching 7 and 8, and Frankie the 9th, will it be Yan or Gregg to get the ball?

On second thought, let's not go there...

by ziggy on Oct 12, 2005 7:37 PM PDT reply actions

Too bad Vlad's not in the game
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

by scareduck on Oct 12, 2005 7:37 PM PDT up reply actions

Well...
those weren't even close, were they?

by Pearly Gates on Oct 12, 2005 7:38 PM PDT reply actions

Escobar doesn't have it tonight
3rd game in 4 days... i don't like this...

by ziggy on Oct 12, 2005 7:39 PM PDT reply actions

Uribe's got...
an i-Pod taped to his hand

Wow
What a play.

I love this game.

by adesai @ Halos Heaven on Oct 12, 2005 7:40 PM PDT reply actions

He was safe
We're getting ALL the breaks.  We have to win this game.

by LA Seitz on Oct 12, 2005 7:40 PM PDT reply actions

Nope
Good call, he was out.

by LA Seitz on Oct 12, 2005 7:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Another one I wish I had seen
GREAT JOB GA!

GA!
Hey, Simers, howdja like me now, bitch?!?  Asleep enough for you?

by Sean @ Halos Heaven on Oct 12, 2005 7:41 PM PDT reply actions

Take it easy
TJ's just poking fun.  Don't take it seriously.

by LA Seitz on Oct 12, 2005 7:42 PM PDT up reply actions

I'll take it
but what was that at second. Guess it was nice........................timing
Donnie Moore died an Angel

by eyespy on Oct 12, 2005 7:41 PM PDT reply actions

Anderson
is spending his free time swimming in the fountain of youth.

by Pearly Gates on Oct 12, 2005 7:41 PM PDT reply actions

Keeps the pitch count down
That's at least one more inning, if not two.  Remember, Escobar thought he could start if needed tonight.

I don't see Frankie being used until the Angels get a lead, or Scioscia has no other choice.  I think Yan will be used before Frankie.  Yan threw a scoreless inning against the Sox in Chicago a month ago in the 12 inning game.

by LA Seitz on Oct 12, 2005 7:42 PM PDT reply actions

Hand missed the bag
and G.A.'s new arthritis medication made it count

by Rev Halofan on Oct 12, 2005 7:42 PM PDT reply actions

Really
Just great awareness by GA.

I thought it was a hit coming off of Uribe's bat as well. I probably would have been running just like Crede was.

I don't think you see Crede called out there very often, but I do think it was the right call.

by adesai @ Halos Heaven on Oct 12, 2005 7:43 PM PDT reply actions

Excellent
Great baseknock.

Love to see DaVanon in the game.

by adesai @ Halos Heaven on Oct 12, 2005 7:45 PM PDT reply actions

We have a Jeff DaVanon sighting!
I thought he was a myth...

by Pearly Gates on Oct 12, 2005 7:45 PM PDT reply actions

Poor technique on that bunt
his hand positioning is just begging for a pitch to break his left hand where he was holding it on that bunt.

by ziggy on Oct 12, 2005 7:47 PM PDT reply actions

Does anyone...
else foresee Josh Paul hitting a homerun in the top of the 18th to put the Angels ahead, and then having Esteban Yan come in and save the game?  I'm just saying, it could happen.

by sas723 on Oct 12, 2005 7:48 PM PDT reply actions

Let's hope we can win without...
13 1/3  innings of relief pitching.

by adesai @ Halos Heaven on Oct 12, 2005 7:50 PM PDT up reply actions

damnit
that ball sails out in july

inches from greatness, but Vladdie leads off the 9th, oh i forgot, someone don't like the MVP anymore...

(i'll take it)

Not so much not liking

If this game comes down to bullpen depth
... the Angels lose.

The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

by scareduck on Oct 12, 2005 8:00 PM PDT reply actions

Must ask...
What's the etymology on this "Panther" stuff?

by Pearly Gates on Oct 12, 2005 8:01 PM PDT up reply actions

The Rev covered it in

I think Escobar comes back out
unless the Angels score. (Doubtful)
Nolan Ryan for president!

by Dodger Hater on Oct 12, 2005 8:01 PM PDT reply actions

I keep mentioning this game
But Deja Vu, man.  Quinlan hit a game tying home run off Buerhle on September 9th.  Escobar worked three innings in that game, as did Jenks.  Angels won in 12.

by LA Seitz on Oct 12, 2005 8:03 PM PDT reply actions

Where are you, Vlad?
The Angels wonder.
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

by scareduck on Oct 12, 2005 8:03 PM PDT reply actions

Buerhle count
9 IP, 98 pitches.

Does OZ send him back out for the 10th?

I mean, assuming we get there [/jinx]

by adesai @ Halos Heaven on Oct 12, 2005 8:05 PM PDT reply actions

Buehle comes back out.
Count on it.

wow
just a terrible call.

by adesai @ Halos Heaven on Oct 12, 2005 8:14 PM PDT reply actions

WTF!
He called him out!

by Pearly Gates on Oct 12, 2005 8:14 PM PDT reply actions

Escobar and the bullpen
are studs! No matter what happens here with this bad call.
Nolan Ryan for president!

by Dodger Hater on Oct 12, 2005 8:14 PM PDT reply actions

Check the ball
They take every ball that hits the ground out of play.

Fucking cocksuckers.

by LA Seitz on Oct 12, 2005 8:14 PM PDT reply actions

What a chicken shit call from Eddings.
The homeplate umpire overruled himself? What a cock.

by Pearly Gates on Oct 12, 2005 8:15 PM PDT reply actions

ps
game's on tv now for those of us not currently in l.a.

by sas723 on Oct 12, 2005 8:16 PM PDT reply actions

Josh Paul just lost his job in 2006
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

by scareduck on Oct 12, 2005 8:16 PM PDT reply actions

Fuck that
Eddings said the inning was over. Why should josh act differently?

by Pearly Gates on Oct 12, 2005 8:18 PM PDT up reply actions

x2
Stolen base was totally on Paul.
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

by scareduck on Oct 12, 2005 8:18 PM PDT up reply actions

Yup
The series tie is on Josh Paul.

Well, that and Vlad's repeated failure to show up.  I told you that this offense can't survive him going on an extended slump.

The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

by scareduck on Oct 12, 2005 8:20 PM PDT up reply actions

FUCKING ROBBED!
Call the MLB right now! This is fucking horseshit!

by Pearly Gates on Oct 12, 2005 8:20 PM PDT reply actions

Unreal
Just shameful.  What a sham.

by Sean @ Halos Heaven on Oct 12, 2005 8:20 PM PDT reply actions

Eddings fucking called him out
Should be an interesting post-game press conference.

Not impressed with the lack of emotion on Scioscia's part, either.

by ziggy on Oct 12, 2005 8:21 PM PDT reply actions

I just created an account to say...
Fucking. Bull. Shit.

Paul caught the ball, the umpire called the runner out. Inning over.

We can start the 10th inning tomorrow.

AJ is a fucking asshole, too
he knows he stole one, too.  the prick.

by ziggy on Oct 12, 2005 8:23 PM PDT reply actions

well
Everyone in the world knows it was crap. Honestly, I can't imagine Erstad, etc. reacting all that differently if the roles were reversed.

Not that it isn't crap.

by adesai @ Halos Heaven on Oct 12, 2005 8:27 PM PDT reply actions

Absolutely true story
I just got an email from my grandmother asking what the deal was with that call. Sheesh.
