How the hell did you post

This is our 3:00 pm breast-feeding?
I thought this was the Figgins, Ersty and Shell trade where we netted Manny and A-Rod?

Beane
Has made Kenny his bitch.  Why can't Stoney?

Koch for Foulke is what I was thinking of
But, I also believe that in Moneyball he conned Kenny out of drafting Swisher.  Not really related but Beane also signed Frank Thomas from the White Sox and we know how that turned out.

by LosAngel on Nov 30, 2006 4:49 PM PST up reply actions

Thanks.
Frank Thomas is a cock and the White Sox replaced him with Jim Thome so I would not hold that against Williams.

Also...
On the Miguel Olivo-for-Chad Bradford trade, that was another Beane > Williams moment. While I love dissing Williams as much as the next A's fan, I think I'd rather be an idiot with a ring than a genius without.

What the Hell is Brewing??
Stonedman has been quiet which is good when you look at all of his brilliant signings so far.  I just hope that we don't give away Santana for anyone less than Tejada or A-Rod!  I DON'T want Barry Bonds, Manny, or any other problematic big bat.

Since Mono-man is rehabbing in another country, does that mean the Angels aren't going to go after a 1st Baseman??  Would Teixera be an option??

Does anyone have any ideas as to which way Stonedman is going??

re:
teixiera is not an option. why would texas trade him to a division rival?

what i dislike about stoneman is that he's not a risk-taker. going by various rumors that have floated in the past couple years, he'll wait and wait and wait until a player gets pulled off the table and be left holding onto his precious prospects, like mcpherson, kotchman, mathis, all of whom will probably have very little impact on the angels in their careers. why is it so hard to trade potential for proven players? if it costs 3 prospects to get a manny or jones, then do it. pull the trigger. not every trade turns out like the giants-twins trade of pierzynski, which netted minnesota 3 quality players. for the most part, in a trade such as that, you're lucky if one of the players makes it big. the twins just lucked out big time on that one.

stop being gunshy and get us that bat that we all know we need, billy-boy. i am really hoping your job depends on it.

by ocrummy on Nov 30, 2006 4:43 PM PST up reply actions

the pierzynski trade was not luck
it was a monkey's paw.

Anyone stupid enough to willingly take Pierzynski deserves their treasure stolen, their livestock raped and through the miracle of retrocausality, their World Series hopes dashed in 7 games.

by atomburn on Nov 30, 2006 4:56 PM PST up reply actions

Twins got lucky
on the AJ trade, but even if the only got the most likely result instead of wildly optimistic, it was a great trade for them.

Bonser and Liriano might never have made it from pitching prospects, but Joe Nathan was a fine setup man with a 98 mph fastball.

I'm OK with trading prospects if we can net a superstar.  I'm not Ok with it just to net ordinary players.  We've got enough prospects that some of them are bound to turn into good players.

Odds are we've got at least one major league 1B in Morales, Kotchman, and McPherson.  We just don't know who yet.

by RallyMonkey5 on Nov 30, 2006 5:33 PM PST reply actions

Its Morales!!! McPhersons platoons @ 3B w/ Figgy!!
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and McPherson at 3B......Now lets go win!!!!!!

agree but
I do agree that I think morales has more of a future than kotch but he still has another year or two until he is ready for a full time slot, but who knows he might be able to handle it.

F+ for effort but sorry wrong answer!!!!!
Kotch is a great defender and hits good too but givin Kendrys glory days in Cuba at the age of 18....he clearly is the more tallented ball player no doubt about that......Future MVP in the near future!!!!!!
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and McPherson at 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cuban baseball and MLB
are not comparable, especially to the extreme you're taking it.

by Higz on Dec 1, 2006 11:38 AM PST up reply actions

F + for being biased
Cuban baseball is not even as good as AAA bro.  Name a recent star hitter that is a Cuban defector.

Wake me up when Morales has the kind of AAA success that Kotch had.

2004 AA .368/428/544 114 AB's
2004 AAA .372/423/558 199 AB's

2005 he posted a 372 OBP over 363 AB's

The 2004 age 21 season is very similar to Kendrick. I suppose you love Kendrick, is Morales better than Kendrick?

No news is great news
No news on a Angels-W.Sox trade is great news. I think in the long run a trade like this would hurt us. Why would we want a 3B who has injury problems when we already have one in McPherson. In that case we should have never had let Glaus go and we wouldn't have a problem with protection for Vlad.

by HapaAngel on Dec 1, 2006 10:57 AM PST reply actions

Not at a cost of Santana
Both McPherson and Crede put their pants on the same way, one leg at a time, but then Crede goes on to play gold glove defense and hit 25-30 bombs.  Much like Bruce Dickinson.

He actually plays.
