The first faux satanic band perhaps...

...but not really black metal, despite the album title. Mayhem was the first true black metal band. Venom does have some good songs though, especially Don't Burn the Witch.

Actually, I think it was

Venom's Welcome to Hell album that started the genre, or at least pioneered the first thoughts of Black Metal. I think Bathory was before Mayhem as well, and Im sure Varg was doing a ton of stuff before Mayhem even if it wasn't published/produced.

But you can easly say Burzum/Mayhem/Emperor/Dissection were pioneers of the whole scene. I still disagree with the idea that Dissection were Death Metal. Especially after relistening to Retribution Storm Of the Lights Bane

...and Bathory didn't sound anything like true Black Metal.

Varg played in Mayhem for a time and it was they who influenced him, not the other way around. Although you could say that killing the lead guitar player had some influence.

Will babysat my friend when she was little. She also happens to be the daughter of University High's baseball coach.

I'll just plead ignorance

I only go Orange County for Angels games, Knott's, and to get to San Diego (so, farily frequently). I don't know the area at all outside of those basic places. I'm assuming this school is part of OC, so I know nothing of it.
