FEENING FOR THE GOLDEN VOICE?

"INTRO COPY IS LAME:"

Star-divide

Sorry if this info's already been posted, but I was delighted to hear Rory Markus calling USC basketball games on 710 AM tonight.

I find that it's helpful to listen to these broadcasts when I need that springtime (fresh) feeling.

The schedule can be found here:

http://usctrojans.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/usc-m-baskbl-body.html

ADMINISTER AS NECESSARY... I doubt that consuming 5+ beers will convince your ears that it's an Angels game... but it's all you've got. After all, XM Radio homeplate can only broadcast so much hot stove...

This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan. Tell us what you think and how you feel.

Angels, Lakers, Rams, Bruins and...
Kings - I was a Kings fan before the Ducks came in the league.  I kinda root for the Ducks though - they are whooping ass this season...

USC
I'll never understand why have of Southern California high schoolers idolize the place.  If it's possible to be "overrated" as a college, USC is the Derek Jeter of universities and academics.

Go Angels, NY Giants, Celtics, Scarlet Knights, and...uh, Mets?

And Banana Slugs.
Don't forget the Banana Slugs.

yes
good times. let me guess... your last name is either Nguyen or Kim.

Not even close.
But it was an understandably safe bet on your part.

by HeyLegacy on Dec 21, 2006 12:48 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Yes!!
Not very often you hear the Go Banana Slugs.  I second that, but I'm not sure exactly what team we are rooting for.  ;-)  Tennis maybe?

I was thinking
Ultimate Frisbee.  Or maybe swimming?

by Caseys Kiss of Death on Dec 20, 2006 10:56 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I am a Gaucho
and the Banana Slugs had nothing on our Ultimate Frisbee team when I was there.  I did not participate I would like to make that very clear.

Is UCSB the Gauchos?

It sure is.

The people who play ultimate
are either:

a) too good to play for one of the sports created by "the man"
b) not legitimate enough athletes to play on any real sports team

i went to UCSC for a year and one quarter before transferring out.

I would have to add
or c.  Hippies.

That is why I wanted to make it clear that I DID NOT PARTICPATE in ultimate frisbee.

Choice "a"
is the hippies, maaaaaan.

by Caseys Kiss of Death on Dec 20, 2006 1:45 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

True
I just wanted to type hippies.

That one made me smile
The Derek Jeter of Universities.  I live out in Yankee land...you have no idea how true that is.

Rory may have a nice voice, but...
...it's just too bad his Angels play-by-play is riddled with errors. Bring back Dick Enberg. Hell, bring back anyone other than the current tandem. The Angels deserve better.

One little win in a football game
and suddenly Bruin fans everywhere can crawl out from under their rocks, or wherever else they have been hiding. Yes, children, this is what sunlight looks like. Please enjoy it while you still can.

(Disclaimer: I attended neither UCLA nor USC. I was raised a USC fan, however. These days, my son - Rubix - is a UCLA grad student. And a happy one at that.)

C'mon Stirrups...
The 7 yrs before this USC run was dominated by the Bruins.  I would'nt necessarily say we've been under a rock - especially during basketball season.

I'm still searching HH
for those college hoop fans who came into this baseball blog back around February 20th, advocating their allegiance to UCLA basketball...  ; )

I actually stumbled onto
HH during this past baseball season but I do admit - it sucked losing to SC at basketball.  And with Mayo coming it sucks even more that they might be getting better :)

Well spoken.
Somebody put gorams77 onto the roster of those who lose honorably.

May your college athletic enthusiasm be ever so stained!

Born and raised on blue and gold
but my gosh, USC is getting the real deal in Aaron Corp...best player on the field last Saturday, hands down...

The sporting world
is one of "what have you done for me lately?".  Lately, USC has lost to UCLA.

by Caseys Kiss of Death on Dec 20, 2006 1:55 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

That's more like "what you have you
done for me most recently"? Yes, most recently UCLA defeated USC in football. Just like most recently USC defeated UCLA in basketball.

"Lately", USC has owned UCLA in football.

Long before that, yes, UCLA owned USC in football.

by Stirrups on Dec 20, 2006 3:05 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I didn't realize
that there was a set definition for "lately".  Whatever.  I dislike the rivalry in general, anyway.

Rory is rad
terry smith needs to go back to the Auto Club.

I agree
I can't stand Terry's monotone.
