Angels Prospect Update: Erick "Ouch" Aybar

Stay connected for news and updates

How about a little play-by-play from Venezuela's Caribbean World Series-clinching game over the Dominican Republic:

New Boston Red Sox shortstop Alex Gonzalez singled in the tying run off Jorge Sosa and scored the game-winner on Henry Blanco's pop-fly double, which bounced off the head of shortstop Erick Aybar after he lost the ball in the lights.

Not as much as the professional pride, not as much as the nationalistic pride, not as much as the organizational pride (Aybar being the Angels' AAA Shortstop and all), but still, I wonder if there was any swelling...

Here is a complete writeup of the incident, the game and the series.
