Spring Training Game UNO

OFFICIAL GAME THREAD

Discuss the game here

San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Angels of Tempe

In these game threads we start of with Song lyrics and then we play a little guessing game.

Random iTunes lyrics
So I know that when I die
He's gonna recommend me to the spirit in the sky

So the game we play on the Game Thread in Spring Training is called:
Guess Which Angel Will Get the Game's First Hit, Score the First Run, Drive in the First Run and which Angel pitcher will record the final out.

Okay, that is a lame name for a game, that is more like the rules of the game.

The name is 1st Hit, Run and Ribby, Last Out

So check the thread for my picks and add yours:

How odd...
that a Jewish dude, Norman Greenbaum wrote and sang a song about "his friend named Jesus", even if it was sort of tongue in cheek.  Ah, the early 70's.....  Great guitar tone on that song, too.

"It's spawning season for the big fish."
Thanks for the imagery Hud. you know he was thinking about that one all off season.

King fish
I will look at him in a whole new light.  I will also look to stay out of spawning distance this season.

by riktermiller on Mar 3, 2006 1:24 PM PST up reply actions

Maybe he meant
... Spahn-ing.

Nah.

The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Hud = Moron
What the hell does this mean? McAnulty makes an error on a grounder from Kotchman. Hud then says, "He overplayed it."

Overplayed it? Uh, oh-kay.

So
I missed who was pitching for the Angels in the ninth. Does anyone know who recorded the last out?

And yes, Game Day Audio is awesome!

by WiseAndEck on Mar 3, 2006 3:11 PM PST reply actions

I was just...
crunching some numbers and I stumbled upon something substantial!  The Angles are now 2-0 and project to go undefeated!  While the Oakland is 0-2 and project to go winless!  I guess those crazy A's fans were over zealous when they were predicting a spot in the WS this year.

by riktermiller on Mar 3, 2006 3:15 PM PST reply actions

SO FAR...
The Angels have outscored their opponents 22-2.  I predict a 13-1 victory tomorrow.

by NPCody on Mar 3, 2006 3:51 PM PST reply actions

statistically speaking
if we project those results over a 162-game season, my highly scientific calculations have proven without a shadow of a doubt that the Angels are destined to score the most team runs in baseball history, effectively dominating each and every opponent on their way to an undefeated season and another WS ring!

i guess the A's should just quit now -- it's inevitable!

by yeswecan on Mar 3, 2006 4:09 PM PST up reply actions

We at least have this on the A's
Angels come before A's Alphabetically speaking.

TMI
It really was too much information when McItchy was quoted in the Times thus: "It was everywhere and I mean everywhere".  Yikes.

What?
King fish's spawn sauce?
