Weaver (?) versus, uh, Marichal maybe?

There is a good feature on John Lackey in the Monday L.A. Tyme$ Seccion Desportes, other than that it is just another crappy beginning of the workweek.

Oh, what a mess I'm in
Are we supposed to guess the final score when we have no idea which players will show up? Bonds won't be there, so I have to believe something like 11-6.

can't do that
some of the more humorless AN-ers might think we're making fun of them.

Anybody using RealAudio?
Haven't gotten it to work so far this year. Had problems with it not being available in ST last year, too.

Jeff Weaver
Rough outing for him, he just left after the Giants had a 7-1 lead in the 3rd inning.

Doesn't look too good for this game.  However, Vlad did make a nice running catch in the 3rd.

Yan
Yeah, it's over.  They just put in Yan.

First batter drives the ball a few feet from the very deep left field fence, and although it was caught, gave up a sacrifice run to the guy on 3rd.

scioscia on Yan
according to Terry Smith, scioscia says Yan's stuff looks better than it did all of last season.

by yeswecan on Mar 6, 2006 1:25 PM PST up reply actions

Well...
Yan just struck out the side.

Now can anybody honestly say they saw THAT coming?

Yan...
I personally think Stevie Yan, has gotten a bad rap because he didn't see enough playing time. Hopefully we'll see some serious improvement with more regular time on the mound.

Sosh was in total denial that the automatic trimuvirate of donnelly shields and frankie was being overused...

using an unproved player is a catch 22, I know. But, we have to mix it up this year, or die.

You have to be kidding
Yan has been awful throughout his career. The Angels took a flyer on him after he had a fluke year (3.83 ERA!).

no doubt, he's mediocre...
I still think consistent playing time will improve his game.

We can't afford to use the "automatic three" this year. The weight has to be distributed amongst the bullpen pitchers: that includes Stevie Yan.

He needs regular work to keep his chops up. Neglect of several pitchers in the pen last year was a problem, a vicious cycle for sure.

you never know
you're right about his stats, but i wonder what scioscia's thinking. if he's cool with Yan, then so am i.
