Okay, I overrated Texas originally. No way can a team with that pitching staff, even with Eaton, finish >3rd. Still, triple digit winning seasons will have to wait for 2007-2010.

I agree
Oakland looks better to me than the Angels, but there are enough question marks for everybody that anything is possible. Here's hoping for the best!

My 2006 Picks
AL
West   LA Angels
Central   Chi White Sox
East   NY Yankees
Wildcard   Clev Indians
Pennant  Chi White Sox
MVP   Alex Rodriguez
Cy Young   Mark Buerhle

NL
West   Arz Diamondbacks
Central   Mil Brewers
East   Atl Braves
Wildcard   NY Mets
Pennant   Atl Braves
MVP   Albert Pujols
Cy Young   Tim Hudson

World Series   Chisox over Braves 4 games to 2

Red Sox Hee Seop Choi will have a better season than Dodger Nomar Garciaparra.  Choi starts the season on the disabled list and spots Nomar 15 games right off the bat.  The Dodgers will win more games (85) than Nomar plays.

Angel Edgardo Alfonzo will have a better season than Giant Steve Finley.  The Halos got the better of this trade.

A's Milton Bradley will have a better season than A's Frank Thomas.  Yahtzee!  A change of venue helps Milton.

Angel Tim Salmon will have a better season than Giant Barry Bonds.  Bonds has a higher mercury content that Kingfish.  Bonds will pass Babe Ruth's 714 area code.

Bad news:  with the AL wildcard being in the Central division the Angels will not get to beat up on their cousins the Yankees in the first round of the post-season.  There is more mojo in Atlanta than Leo Mazzone.  Bobby Cox continues to have the good times roll.

In half an hour I am off to see the next NL Cy Young award winner beat the Dodgers on Opening Day.  The game will not be rained out today.  I sat in the stands during the first two Dodger Stadium rainouts:  April 1967 vs St. Louis (I missed seeing a Bob Gibson vs Don Drysdale game) and April 1976 vs San Diego.  For the record I also sat in the stands during rainouts in June 1977 (Atlanta @ NY Mets) and July 1989 (Oakland @ Detroit).  I was also driving to games when it was announced on the radio that they were called off because of rain in May 1972 (Detroit @ Kansas City) and June 1992 (Atlanta @ San Francisco).  The best of these rainouts was the one in Kansas City.  While driving from Omaha to Kansas City I heard that the Friday night game was rained out.  An advertisement mentioned a Creedence Clearwater Revival concert that night in KC.  I went to the CCR concert that night and found an empty seat in the second row.  The rained out game was made up as part of a Sunday doubleheader, so I still got to see all three Tiger-Royal games.

HEY
I was at that 1976 Dodger rainout against the Padres - I think it was a windbreaker night giveaway.
