Jered Weaver Might Get Next Try in Colon's Spot

http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-angrep3may03,1,6391808.story?coll=la-headlin es-sports-mlb-angels

The Angels, confident that Jered Weaver is ready for the major leagues after one month at triple A, are leaning toward starting him Saturday in Toronto and giving him the chance to replace Bartolo Colon in the rotation.

As Colon's recovery from a shoulder injury lingers, the Angels believe they might be better served with Weaver in the rotation and Hector Carrasco back in the bullpen.

----------------------------------
Also, they mention that there's a good chance we will see Howie Kendrick starting at first or 3rd for some games soon

I can put him at first and third," Griffin said. "I'm not afraid."

Scioscia said the Angels are trying to find spots for Kendrick and improve their offense this year, not turn him into the second coming of Chone Figgins. Kendrick said he hopes his future remains at second base but would play anywhere to get into the lineup.

"Things happen every day in baseball," he said. "One day I might be an outfielder. I'm open to moving anywhere."

KENDRICK
Howie at 3rd Base might be a great solution.

Figgins to CF
And Erstad to the bench, or the DL if his ankle is bothering him too much.

Jered Weaver
I like the idea of bringing Jered up. But I think Carrasco is actually pitching better than Old Weaver. Therefore, I'd demote Old Weave to long relief and let his kid brother start in his spot. Carrasco HAS earned at least a few more starts, so keep him in there till Colon is ready. At this point he certainly inspires more confidence than "Hippie Lettuce Man."

Except that Carrasco is a reliever
and has been for his entire career.  I'd trust him in the 'pen more than Weaver, who's basically been a starter for his entire career.

I exclude anything he did with the Yankees, who clearly don't know what to do with pitchers under the age of 35.

Howie at First
Is has a higher probability of success! Same side of the infield he is used too. I dont think he has the glove work to step into 3b...

I would not be opposed to running D-mac out at 3b for 7-10 days to see what if anything he can do. As mentioned earlier, I would prefer to see D-mac getting Alfonso's AB's

Howie
is like 5'8" and Figgy uses evey inch of Casey at 6'4".  That could get ugly.

What do I know?
I love seeing Howie getting playing time!

I agree
Carrasco back in the pen = Alfonzo DFA'd and less Yan
Howie Meter: 24 for 61, .393 AVG
