Angels Finally Get Motors Running

ANGELS WIN

Panther of the Game:
Kevin Gregg

Star-divide

The lineup shakeup seems to have paid off today as the Angels get 15 hits, including Kid Napoli's first big league bomb, 2 hits from Kid Murphy, Kid Kotch's first HR, and a 4-for-5 (1 HR, 3 RBI) outing from Vladdymir.

Question of the Day: Who plays tomorrow? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Don't change a thing!  And for the love of God, please don't put Alfonso back in!

Agreed
I want to see this lineup until we lose again.

Go Get Em
Gotta love this line-up...at least until everyone is healthy...and maybe beyond that.

Where did "Tommy O'Murphy" come from?  Maybe he brought some pre-game "beverages" with him, they all looked more relaxed that I've seen the club in quite some time.

Murphy Looked Good In Spring Training....
For all the talk about Kendrick(Whose Awesome), Morales(Awesome), Wood(Awesome)& Weaver(From my hometown, therefore an idiot), I noticed Murphy was pretty talented too. I really felt he and Napoli were the catalysts today. With more of the young guys showing up it reduced the pressure on HK-47 and he played well too. I look forward to watching the young guy lineup play together. Perhaps it's time to accept that this is it for Erstadt and Kennedy.

HK-47
You heard it here first.

by alcor805 @ Halos Heaven on May 4, 2006 5:24 PM PDT up reply actions

Wow...
They gave Kendrick Kennedy's old number.  I just realized that.
Howie Meter (AAA): 24 for 61, .393 AVG
Howie Meter (MLB): 1 for 7, .143 AVG :(

by NPCody on May 4, 2006 8:56 PM PDT up reply actions

It for Kennedy?
Kennedy also went 2 for 5 today and is hitting .322, how is this the end for him?

from the halls of montezuma
to the shores of Napoli:

napoli is only the 3rd angel to HR in his MLB debut.

the other two guys never hit another one in their careers (one was a pitcher, though).

and for those of us who are concerned about the slow start for the kids, consider this:

willie mays started his career 1-for-25.

i'm just sayin'.

What
was Napoli's PHIL rating today?

by cupie on May 4, 2006 2:53 PM PDT up reply actions

I am just curious
I am looking to pick him up possibly in a keeper leauge.  I am looking for the PHIL stats how they will match up with the categories for the league and to also compare PHIL with Value above Means.

Just let me know.

Thanks

Yeah,
What the f**k are you talking about?
since 1961

by Chompo on May 4, 2006 8:11 PM PDT up reply actions

HMMMM could it be the Rev was WRONG??
I was looking back at Rev's 'report card' on Napoli:
         Mike Napoli
if you think Mathis is not ready for prime
         time, this kid ain't either...

I think after today's game he and Murphy get an A for effort. Great start for both.

I don't think anyone deserves detention either...don't you just love being a HAPPY fan for a change???

Oh yeah
I would rather be wrong and win then right and lose.

Long Memory
Shredder, I recall your posts in Aug '02 on Primer, I know the recipe for success from the one who cooked it up.

These other kids around here, though, they gotta learn to moan in order to win.

short memory
shredder, didn't you retire? i mean, is the season still over?

Somebody had to beat Detroit! Good job.

you're welcome
now tell your team to lose.

by yeswecan on May 4, 2006 4:04 PM PDT up reply actions

See!
I told you guys it was time to start playing all the kids.

by LA Seitz on May 4, 2006 7:52 PM PDT reply actions

Toronto....
This is about the last place I want our team to go right now.  We always struggle against them, even when they were shitty.  Now they have a few former Angels that YOU KNOW will want to beat us badly.

Good news is, as much as I hate to say it because I love Bengie, we should be able to run at will against them.  Let's just hope we can keep getting on base.  Need a streak!

AK vs HK
I don't understand all this talk about Kennedy being done with the Angels. He's one of the most consistent hitters in the lineup as well as above average defensively. Why would you replace (trade) him just to make a spot for an unproven Kendrick?

And who finally woke up today and decided to move AK from the 9th spot????

by george bush on May 5, 2006 12:31 AM PDT reply actions

The short version
AK is a free agent at the end of the season and recent history has shown that the Angels are more willing to part with vet in the name of using products from their farm system.  I doubt Kennedy gets traded unles the Angels go in the tank.

by riktermiller on May 5, 2006 9:29 AM PDT up reply actions

Kennedy could get traded
if Howie Kendrick gets it going offensively, and they're able to use Kennedy to fill a particular need.

But the guy is having a heck of a season thus far.  As excited as I am about Kendrick, AK will be missed.  He's one of the better all-around 2B in the league.
