Or, I've either got too much time on my hands or I'm being terribly unproductive at work (or both).
ESPN.com's "Rumor Central" (which usually consists not of actual rumors, but of things made up by local sportswriters who have column inches to fill) indicates that the Pittsburgh Pirates'"Jeromy Burnitz and Craig Wilson will have to share time in right field, unless the Pirates consummate a trade, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Wilson, a free agent at the end of the season, is the likely player to be dealt."
Wilson turns 30 in November. He's from Fountain Valley. He bats right-handed. His career #s are .269/.363/.490. This year, he's sitting at .276/.359/.515. Only Vlad & Salmon have a higher OBP among Angels' regulars (as do Napoli and Izturis in limited AB). His SLG is bested only by Napoli and Vlad.
Those numbers in LF would look a heck of a lot better than GA's .276/.320/.420 line or Rivera's .232/.290/.414. The Bucs need pitching: send them Joe Saunders and Donnelly. They want a replacement 4th OF? Nick Gorneault fits the bill.
The Angels could use his bat.
