Why hasn't

Shields pitched in so long?
It seems like he would come in just to get work if things were normal like frankie..am i overanalyzing or does it seem like something is going on?

I think

they are just giving him plenty of rest considering how often they have used him in the past - and how that overuse showed at the end of July last year.

I want to understand this draft pick stuff. So they get these people. Where do they put them? Do they put htem on the minor leagues until they trade off the dead wood presently on the team then move them up as they become qualifed/experienced???

In addition ot cutting players, they just flat out release players who are not performing well - guys from drafts two and three years ago.

I never realized how complex all this crap was. Seems more political than Sacramento.

How long are these guys in the litle boys league til they join up with the big boys? What if they never prove themselves? Are they on contract too? If they are "promising" but not quite good enough, are they trading fodder for players in the major leagues? (ie trade a big name guy with a youngin for a bigger name guy)???
