Vlad to the Yankees?

This is absolutely insane, and i think the angels would not trade him for anything the yankees have to offer. Still, the Yankees are legitimately trying to trade for him. http://realitycheck.mlblogs.com/ has an article about this. Now the question, Would you trade Vlad for anything, especially for anything the Yankees have? I truly believe I would not trade Vlad for anything, even a package of superstars. Vlad IS the Angels and he is easily on his way to being the Greatest Angel of All Time. Simple as that. Or is this article just an example of the creation of a rumor?

Did you read the article?
"The "reliable source" is the American League schedule, which indicates the Yankees will be in Anaheim on Aug. 11-14 to play the Angels. So naturally they are "interested" in Guerrero, the Halos' most dangerous gun. Of course they are "scouting" him; all teams have advance scouts to prepare reports on upcoming opponents.

No, that's not silly. That's how trade brushfires spark all over the map, and the Web. Isn't this like a magician taking you backstage to explain how he did that trick? "

Alternative Universe
On 11-14 August 2006 the Angels play the Skanks in New York.  On 25-27 August 2006 the Skanks play the Angels in Anaheim. Vlad will be wearing Angel red in both series.

Did you actaully read the link?
The version at that link, as posted at the time of this entry, clearly stated that this was invented merely to demonstrate how internet rumors are started, using phrasing which mathces verifiable facts but allowing for plenty of leeway for mis-interpretation.

It is bogus, and was presented as an example of bogus.

A-rod=chump
A-rod is an overrated chump...  I don't want a douche like that on my team...

He's been a loser everywhere he goes... notice the Yanks haven't won crap with him? Neither did the Rangers, or Seattle.

Please
I wouldn't make that deal either, but for reasons having to do with contract terms and the specific needs of the team right now.  Rodriguez is a pretty damn good ballplayer, though, and the Yankees have done EXACTLY as well with him as the Angels have with Vlad - two division titles, one ALDS appearance, one ALCS appearance.

I love rooting for Vlad, but let's not kid ourselves - he doesn't have any rings either, and his postseason line (.180/.241/.240!) is nowhere near Rodriguez's (.305/.393/.534).  Rodriguez is also a very good defender at two different premium defensive positions, and has lost very little time to injury.  Overrated chump?  C'mon.

Comparison
What did you think of OC pointing at his foot the other day to insinuate that he'd been hit by the ball?

by akathelorax on Jul 21, 2006 2:40 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

insinuate??
per the replays, he WAS hit in the foot, which is why the ball bounced up.
You obviously have a wonderful economy with words. I look forward to your next syllable with great eagerness!

hmm..
Thats not what I recall.  Rex and Phys also said he was acting...not that they are the best judges.

I just watched it again
The ball hit the ground, not his foot.

Big Difference
between Cabrera's acting on a close judgement call than A-Rod's flagrant - and frankly, pathetic - slapping at the mitt. Bad acting on a flagrant foul.

OK, I will have to defer to your judgement
I don't have the ability to see it again; I just could have sworn that it hit the arch of his foot. Oh well, c'est la vie. Guess the Oscar of the night goes to.....
too bad the rest of the players lost out on the award for Best Performance

replays
My take on replays is that if it takes you more than two times viewing to figure something out, the ump gets a pass.

And acting is part of the game. Works both ways, for and against our side. Only the flagrantly bad actors of any stripe (and all soccer players) are deserving of ridicule.

I give OC all the credit for reacting instinctively. If acting, it's still gamesmanship worthy of respect.

No, No...
You've all got it all wrong.  The Yankees have been complaining about the clubhouse spread, so they're trying to trade for Altagracia.
