Andruw Jones

Jones was claimed by a team yesterday off of the waiver wire.  This gives the Braves and the undisclosed team a 48 hour period to work out a trade before the Braves would have to pull Andruw off of waivers to prevent losing him with out compensation.  There was a rumored deal to the Red Sox but the Angels had a waiver claim ahead of the Red Sox.  The deadline is tomorrow at 1 pm.

My Guess
is that the claimant is Houston; ESPN intimates that prior to the deadline, Boston was trying to get Jones to flip him to Houston for Oswalt.  Maybe Houston would pick him up anyways.

Or maybe...perish the thought...the Dodgers.

But it's hard to imagine that there would be a claiming AL club with a record worse than the Angels'.

Totally Agree
Houston is dumb enough to think that they are still in it because of last year.
Only problem is that Pettite and Lidge are not the same as last year, and it was pitching that got them  there.

Houston
Houston is only 4 games out of the wild-card.  They are near the bottom in offense in the NL; not a wild though to add a solid bat to the lineup to put them back in the race and perhaps the pitching will come around.

Red Sox won't get him
According to the ESPN article "Multiple teams placed claims on Jones, according to major-league sources."

Red Sox have the 3rd best record in the league.
