Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Game 110/162

GAME Thread - Rangers at Angels - Willie Wonka Koronka v. Black Magic Santana - 1:10 p.m.

Star-divide

I'm thinking that the Fox National Broadcast will be an improvement over Rex and Steve... Hey, life's a gamble...

Intentionally Altered Movie Dialogue:
Scioscia: Out of respect for Bartolo, I give you three days to mourn. When finish, I come back.

Allowing three runs from the A's translates to allowing 9 runs from the Rangers, so let's hope Black Magic scares the daylights out of them better than he showed on Monday...

Ya'll ever notice the dumbass face princess teixeira makes when he's at the plate?  He creeps me out.

The last world series champion in California has "Anaheim" written next to their name.

Did you ever notice
Lackey's sweat beads of fear run off his face as he desperately tries to keep every pitch he throws to Teixeria off the plate.

Good season gentlemen.
Koronka being as terrible as he is, the offensive juggernaught just dominates sub-par pitching and unless scott shields can pitch 5 innings, its gonna get ugly.

3rd place team: 5/11
2nd place team: 10/14

and to think Carlos Lee has barely gotten anything out of the infield yet, what happens when he gets on his game, now thats just scary.

by TeixGoesYard on Aug 5, 2006 7:36 AM PDT reply actions

Dude
Santana is one of the best young pitchers around - why do you think all the other GMs were trying to get him in exchange for a bat? I've got a feeling he's gonna have a good one today and silence the 'mighty' Rangers bats

by Matt UK on Aug 5, 2006 7:49 AM PDT up reply actions

Wait wasn't
Lackey one of the "best" pitchers as well?

by TeixGoesYard on Aug 5, 2006 8:13 AM PDT up reply actions

Ummmm
Santana is much younger and improves with nearly every start. Go ahead and say numbers don't mean anything, but I'm pretty sure 11-5/4.20 is just a tad better than 7-6/4.96...

by Clutch on Aug 5, 2006 9:03 AM PDT up reply actions

Oh for sure
No doubt he is better than Koronka, Hell almost every pitcher in the league is better than that soft tossing sally.

Im just talking from the hitting side of things, not pitching.

I don't like hives.

I'll be at the game, but only for a little while today, so expect to see me whining on here once I get home.  (It's one of the advantages of living so close to the park when you are on a limited time schedule.)

Santana with 24 pitches, Koronka with 22
Maybe, just maybe, the Angels are realizing that being patient at the plate actually does pay off by wearing out the pitcher and getting to the bullpen just a little bit earlier.

As soon as I say that, Anderson goes after the first pitch. Moron.

But I don't find Rex too annoying. Nor Physioc either for that matter. I'm sure that there are better announcers out ther, but there are far worse out there too, the White Sox and Yankees crews being particularly horrible.

Anyway, for some reason, MLBtv has the Angels radio feed today.

Hey Angels, it's amazing what you can do...
. . . . . when you actually make the guy throw pitches. Koronka has thrown 70 pitches through three innings. It's safe to say that when you make the pitcher work more than usual, he will make more mistakes than usual. Keep it up guys.

but why does it count if vlad goes 0-0 today? with 5 walks or something, that should not count against his hitting streak i think

by hathaway93 on Aug 5, 2006 3:10 PM PDT up reply actions

Apparently it does
even if he goes 0-0, it sounds like (from the announcers) Vlad's streak would end since he's played today

i didn't know that either
i thought the streak would end...now vlad's gonna have alot of pressure for his last at bat since i'm guessing they wil pitch to him in a blowout, maybe sosh will take him out for defensive purposes, if he knows that, that is the rule.
