Which "K" has more POWER?
Kendry and Kotchman will battle it out for 1B in Spring Training. The Angels and us fans are in need of a power hitter(Unless they get Cabrera)so what should we do.
Would you rather have Kotchman with Great Defense but mediocre Power(He had a high BA in the minors but never did hit for power)...
Or Kendry with Good Defense(No Errors in 58 games + Gold Glove in DWL this season and only 5 errors with the Angels in 56 games) and Power(Hit 3HR in a game in the DWL.....Lead the league in HRs......HR in 1st profesional ABs....and had a couple other Multi-HR games in his 1st full year of Pro Baseball.)
You all know who i choose but who would you guys take????????

Kotchman
But as has been said...whoever plays best in spring.
I'm still curious to see if there will be a trade actually.

For my money...
Good defense makes the rest of the infield better and as long as he can set the table for others or at least protect someone else, I can live with so-so power.
Of course, if Morales turns out to have Delgado power, I live with a few errors.
I would say
If Kendry truly lights it up huge in spring training, he won't be denied. Anything short of that, or a very poor Kotchman showing, otherwise it's Kotchman's job. Before they can just give the job to Kendry, even if he deserves it, they need Kotch to prove he is back, so they could at least get something in a trade. We are very lucky though because both of these guys are only 23 and they could both be pounding on the MLB door demanding an opportunity with their level of play.
I have a similar survey. Who starts more diaries, Johnsamo or acuda27? We all know who has the monopoly on exclamation.
Kendry has yet to prove....
Read.....The Following Then Reply.
It took Kendry about 1.5years to get to the bigs..
Kendry(AAA 2006) R=41 RBI=52 HR=12 AVG=.310
Kotch(AAA 2004) R=32 RBI=37 HR=5 AVG=.365
Kendry had way more production in his stint in AAA compared to Kotchman.....thanks for pointing out Kotchmans "Amazing 2004" cuz now im sure Kendry is the better player!!!!
You might want too look at Kotchmans AAA stats for 2005 and 2006....it shows that hes getting better....NOT...His average goes to .289 then to .000
Kendry All the way!!!!!
I would like to point out
Which is not to say he's not the better player (he's probably not), just that you need to make valid comparisons.
Please

Ya and he would of been there even faster
All right, I'll bite
Your second point revolves around Kotchman's 2004 where he had 3 promotions, and still hit over 370 in the minors. I'm aware that he 'only' had 8 homers in his 77 minor league games, but i'll take the average any day. Kendry was 2 years older during his 2006 season, and had only a promotion from double a to triple a to contend with. Your comparison are not quite accurate, and even if they were, I'd still take Kotchman.
And now for the lamest comment of all time; "his average goes to .000." His entire minor league year in 2006 consisted of 7 at bats. In case you missed that, I'm going to add some exclamation points because that is apparently the only way that you can understand this; 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some things to consider:
- Learn how to use punctuation. The first thing to look up is ellipsis. If you want to be taken seriously, write in a manner that doesn't make me think you're 12.
- If you're thinking about calling out Matt on a statistical argument, think twice and make sure your arguement is 100% solid or you will be ruined.

Foxsports.com had this to say about Kotchman...
Who are the next first basemen ready to slug at least 20 homers and drive in 80 RBI to become fantasy starters?
1. Casey Kotchman, Los Angeles
He's been heralded as one of the Angels' top prospects since he was drafted. After winning the first base spot last year, though, Kotchman disappointed by missing the vast majority of the season with mononucleosis. He's returned to full strength now and is slated to win the Angels' starting first base position again. Though Kotchman only hit 10 homers at Triple A in 2005, he totaled 160 bases in 94 games, including 23 doubles, and drove in 58 RBI. He also walked more (43) than he struck out (40), showing excellent plate discipline.
What bodes well for his future is that he displayed an ability to hit for power in the majors in limited time in 2005. He hit 7 homers, had 22 RBI and scored 16 runs with a .278 batting average in 143 plate appearances. Given a full season with 502 plate appearances based upon his 2005 stats, Kotchman would be projected to hit 25 homers, 77 RBI and 56 runs with a similar .278 average.

Cool I wish him luck
But Morales can still upset Kotchman this spring. Or Hill might upset Kotch and Morales will get to DH?
This is easy:
Kotchman 2005 (pre illness) .278/.352/.484 with 7 HR in 126 ABs.
Morales 2006 .234/.293/.371 with 5 HR in 197 ABs.
This is not even close. This is Kotchman's job to lose.

Thats Kotchmans second call up.
Kotchman 2004 .224/.289/.276 with 0 HR in 116 AB
Morales 2006 .234/.293/.371 with 5 HR in 197 AB
MLB career....
Kotchman .227/.289/.343 8HR 43RBI 29R 42SO 321AB
Morales .234/.293/.371 5HR 22RBI 21R 28SO 197AB
Ive said enough to rest my point.
