ALDS game start times set

Our first game on Wed @ Boston will begin at 3:30 PST, and the Friday game at 5:30 PST.

The first home game Sunday in Anaheim will be at 12:00 PST, and the Monday game will be at 6:30 PST.

Since I have to fly home from Sacramento on Sunday to see the game, it looks like it's going to be an early flight for me.

It is bizarre to schedule game 1 in Boston at 6:30 Eastern! 3:30 pm on West Coast on a weekday? They will get no ratings.

Playoff schedules have been running like this for years. TV stations who have bought the rights for the games want to televise as many as possible. Having 4 games in one day makes it tough to get all of the games on TV. Also, the playoffs are a time when as many games should be made available. West coast fans living on the east coast should be able to get their teams without having to pay for mlbtv, just like east coast fans on the west coast. All baseball should be available during the playoffs.

As far as odd start times and 3:30 pst times being "crap"? I remember taking a day off work to catch the Halos-Bosox in 2004. It was a day game out west which means about 10:00am eastern. How is that for crap? East coast halo fans couldn't even take a half day.

The first round of the playoffs have always been this way, so if you have a competitive team save a vacation day or two. People will watch, money will be made, and those of us working 9-5 have to figure out how to work around it. Let's all be happy they aren't playing playoff and WS games exclusively during the day. That was the situation not too long ago...

Not too many decades ago WS games games were played during the week, during the day. Actually, figuring out how to watch or listen or attend made for community. It was actually MORE fun as fans back then!

Besides, it could be a LOT worse. We could be A's fans.

1968. Detroit vs. St. Louis.

My 6th grade teach was a Cards fan. The other 6th grade teacher, right next door, was a Tigers fan. Both set up TVs in the classroom for scratchy antenna reception, and were banging on the walls at each other all series long!! Every kid was a baseball fan back then...
