Sox Fans aren't scared of

Lackey and Escobar. I was on their blog site and came across this: "I like our chances against the Angels as I think they are a very beatable team (does Lackey scare any Red Sox fan? How about Escobar? Didnt think so). I still worry about the Yankees as the Sox didnt show an ability to beat them in August or September in big games but I think the AL is wide open this year and hopefully the Sox stay on this roll and bring home another chanpionship."

They don't even give us a chance they are already looking past the Angels at looking at the Yankees. Damn I hate Red Sox fans, they are so lame. I hope Lackey and Escobar pitch their games and we beat the Sox in Beantown.

Right
And Lackey's career 1-10 record against the Red Sox is just a figment of their imagination.
Hoping Ervin Santana turns it around in Salt Lake. Go, Ervin!

I'd be more willing to concede Lackey's
Awful Fenway record, if he weren't such a big game pitcher.  Overall, he's tough as nails, and I doubt he'll let that record get to him.

To me, it's exactly the opposite of Ervin.  Ervin would seem to me to know he sucked on the road, and suck more because of it.  John is a competitor, and I would figure be a better pitcher for it.

That's not to say there isn't a chance he gets shelled tomorrow.  I don't disagree with you that there is a definite possibility that they beat us this series.  However, I just don't see it as a certainty.

John Lackey - Pitcher v Batter

The guy who is most dangerous against Lackey is Manny, and Manny has shown no power in his 5 starts since returning in September.  Ortiz is also pretty strong, as if JD Drew (in limited at bats).  So essentially, we just have to hold down the middle of their batting order, and we have a shot to win.  The frightening thing, though, is how ineffective Vlad has been against Beckett (5 for 23, .771 OPS).

Dice-K and Schilling don't worry me.  It's just Beckett, and we have to beat him at least once.  I'd rather get that win tomorrow than have to count on it in game 5.

Willits for ROY

I'm more worried about...
DiceK then anyone else.  We generally don't do well against pitchers we haven't seen before - and he's never pitched to us.  Plus - he has a bunch of offspeed junk pitches - another weakness.

As long as Escy is healthy - he is money though and should keep us in the game.

Memo to Scioscia: Home field advantage throughout is on the line - you don't HAVE to let everyone get a chance to pitch...

Because their starters are frightening?
I'm giving Figgins a big F U. Seattle isn't winning 90. I am not worried.

Simmons says they'll sweep us
In one of the Sports Guy's recent podcasts, he says he thinks the Sox of Red will sweep your mightly Halos.  It's common knowledge the Sox fear only one team so this is to be expected.  I don't like how we play at Fenway but I expect our guys to pull it together and get at least one.

Simmons is a fanboy douchebag
When he is Anaheim for the ALDS, I will spill a beer on him.

I don't want them to fear us.
I want them arrogant, haughty, self-righteous. I want them feeling entitled. I want them laying down all of their finest smack and and their most dismissive insults. I want them celebrating early, as early as right now. I want them scheduling their hotel rooms in New York. I want them lining up their Yankee/Red Sox highlight reels from the past. I want them running around and laughing and joking things up, what with their ballcaps on backwards and fresh-trimmed mullets flying in the breeze. I want them selling t-shirts on every corner printed with this year's new, yet still insipid, rally cry. I want them at their highest pinnacle of over-confidence, and I want them crowing loudly.

And then, only then, do I want the Angels to crush them. For there is no such thing as terminal velocity for failure.

Who cares?
The question is do the Angels fear the Red Sox?  I don't think so.   Lackey is better than Beckett - beats him by a quarter run in ERA.  Escobar beats Dice-K by a full run.  That's 4 of 5 possible games.  Schilling has the edge on Weaver, but only by .04.

Red Sox are going down.  Bring on the Yankees!

If I went to war and could only take one weapon, it would be an HK47.

in fairness
lackey's track record at fenway is pretty awful, but hopefully his clutch big game pitching will shine over that

it's gonna be close
but apparently 9 out of 10 ESPN "experts" (including Sox über-homer Peter Gammons) are picking the Red Sox to win the series:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2007/series?series=laabos

Apparently they think Beckett is pitching every game.

great record those espn experts have...

I'd like to point out that last year, there was one team that only one person picked to win their divisional series...the st. louis "2006 world series champions" cardinals
