time for reagins to prove
well
BoSox appear to want Lowell back(appear).
Still, your 3 most likely destinations for Arod are:
Boston
Anaheim
New York
please arte, do us all a favor and get us a power hitting 3rd baseman. Wood fills in for OC. Power lineup for the next 10 years, insurance for when vlad breaks down.

Not going to NYY again
Now, that could hold as much water as Arte's statement in August that he doesn't "see a $30 million player on this team," but given that it's the Yankees I'd be very surprised to see him back there.

Just because the post season sucked
A-Rod is bigger than baseball, though, as suitors for his contract will soon come to find out.

I would rather
IMHO, A-Rod is not the answer.....
This should be fun to watch.
He took ARod into the stratosphere - and, most importantly, out of the financial reach of 90% of the buying market - by getting Hicks to bid against his own stupid ass and sign ARod for that huge money in the first place. And, FWIW, that trick taught the other 90% that there is a long-term downside for marginal franchises to take a flyer on the biggest contract in baseball. Bora$$ can't go back to that well, ever again.
So now Bora$$ has ARod opting out. The only way that walking away from $155 million makes sense is to be walking towards $300 million.
Therefore, Bora$$ needs to create a $300 million feeding frenzy. Unfortunately, he is chumming in waters that are nearly empty now. The few teams capable of dealing $30 million per year are already fighting back through Bora$$' own negotiating channel. To wit: Moreno speaking publicly that he wouldn't do a $30mill contract; Cashman speaking publicly that the Yankees are finished with ARod if he opts out. In the AL, where ARod stands the best chance to finish his career with the team that signs him next, Boston stands alone. And, as WS champs with a growing lsit of young players, they have the strongest hand in all of baseball during this offseason.
In the NL, should ARod be thinking short term until he can get back to the AL for DH duty, there are the Cubs and Mets. Maybe Atlanta. Who am I forgetting?
Therefore, Bora$$ is going to have to work like a mo-fo to get that dimwit up in Chavez Ravine to trend towards something incredibly stupid and incredibly public to dupe the Cubs or Mets into Big Money.
Personally, I would like to see the NL suitors pared down to just the Cubs, and the Bora$$$?ARod team looking silly trying to make the Cubs' offer look astounding as they come crawling back to the AL, where Boston sits tight and Moreno forces Bora$$ to blink yet again, and swoops in and claims ARod for $26 million per year for 7 years with a $4 million signing bonus paid out in years one and two just so that Bora$$ and ARod can save face.
Yeah, this is going to be good.
Screw A-Rod

Also...
Besides Figgins, there are...
Wood
MacPherson
Looking further, just about any of the middle infielders could be worked at 3B. Cabrerra is as close as Wood. Aybar has the strongest arm. Callaspo is going to get blocked by Kendrick at 2B.
