this isnt confirmed, but it certainly isnt out of question. mlbtraderumors has a post saying mariano rivera is being offered $15M a year by the yankees to re-sign. FIFTEEN!!! That is outlandish and completely irresponsible.

why am i posting this? because since we're talking about ponying up the money for a-rod(which im starting to feel is less and less likely), we also have frankie up for extension(and eventually lackey). a guy that has already been vocal about being pissed about not being paid, where do you think his demands are gonna start after seeing a declining mariano get fifteen million a year to close. im feeling we have no shot at keeping frankie now. whether or not people really care about that is up for debate. still, it could hurt a lot.
