Kendrick Could Be Traded
UPDATE: According to Marlins.com Maicer Izturis could be had instead of Brandon Wood

Kendrick is apparently not untouchable and would be part of a package for Miguel Cabrera is the Angels were to get a 2nd player in return. Apparently that second player could be Dan Uggla, MLBTradeRumors.com has also noted Dontelle Willis being added to the deal.
This is a tough deal to look at.
We'd be giving up Nick Adenhart, Howie Kendrick, "Dick" Wood and Mathis or Napoli. But, in return we'd be receiving Miguel Cabrera and Dontelle Willis or Dan Uggla.
I'm not sure I would do this trade of Kendrick was included. I love Uggla's power, but it's the NL and his BA is questionable. We'd also be putting ourselves into a large hole with the lack of Adenhart in the minors. What would you all do?

Hell no,
as do i.
howie kendrick, nick adenhart, joe saunders or ervin santana, and reggie willits or terry evans. fuck no. i saw the dodgers supposed package too, the dodgers are completely nuts if they offer that.
if that's what the marlins are asking for, i'm saying no to all of it and if reagins says no, i'm supporting him. the marlins will not fleece us. no.
Could not agree more

Kendrick! > Uggla
In short: NO.
he's not even that young.
no
cabrera's bat is tempting but judging by all these reports, and the one on the angels' homepage, it appears theyre holding out for howie. i dont blame them, but i dont see it happening. not howie AND wood AND adenhart. i think theyre just shooting for the stars and hoping that we meet them somewhere just short of that.
this trade would basically signal a commitment from arte to spend more money through free agency over the coming years, which i find highly unlikely. this deal aint happenin.
Why wait to become Chase Utley
We need Cabrera
I love Howie Kendrick but if we can trade Kendrick/Adenhart/Wood for Cabrera/Uggla/Willis, sign me up.
That trade would never happen
I won't be needing new pants any time soon for that reason.

No trade
I love it
ok, can you stop?
im not saying i want this trade to happen either because i absolutely do not. howie is my favorite player and i think hes a star but you need to stop with this a-rod junk. Who makes their biggest, in boras'-ballpark offer at 12:01???
really? the first minute we should have just gone into a bidding war with ourselves? thank god youre not our GM. what then if the red sox or giants decide to get crazy and join in? we'd feel pretty stupid for setting the bar that high the first minute he was a free agent wouldnt we?
you can say youll go be a nationals fan but from the sounds of it, you might be happier rooting for new york or boston.
the audacity of angel fans to be hating on arte for not raising his payroll by 27 million when we already have the 4th highest payroll in the league is sickening. not to mention the fact that a-rod and the yankees negotiating has nothing to do with us and everything to do with the lack of OTHER teams interested and a-rods(his wife's) desire to stay a yankee

This trade would RAISE the payroll
MCab is going to make about $12 million this year and perhaps $15 million next year. Thats a savings of $33 million over the next 2 years over ARod...but after those two years are up MCab is going to be a free agent who will most likely sign a bigger contract than ARod for more years and more $$ per year. If we sign guys to replace the guys we traded, we have to remember that Howie, Wood, Adenhart, et al. were going to be under club control for 4-6 years and so we have to put that extra money in the budget for that time period.

MCab Claims...
"This winter, I'm really going to work on my physical condition in order to be in the best shape possible for Spring Training," said Cabrera. "I've been at it for four weeks now at a gym that specializes in professional athletes, and I'll be there until the spring."
But I agree, this talk of trading HK is blasphemous.

Tubby
Keep Howie
I'd do it.
I love Howie, but clearly not as much as most everybody else here. I see his D as weak. Maybe he will become awesome later, but I thought that the drop-off from Kennedy was noticeable. On offense, yeah, he hits for nice average and every 5th hit he turns into a double. But he has never shown any power to speak of and has a noticeable strikeout rate. Uggla has a high strikeout rate too, sure, but same or better D and is a HUGE power improvement.
Izzy for Miggy is a no-brainer. If I have to justify that to anybody, leave me alone. The net upside for that player in the Angels' lineup is similar to what Vladdie has brought, and his age makes this a possible long-term opportunity.
Adenhart is a loss. Yes. But he remains a minor league prospect. If we are already so short of minor league pitching prospects that his loss leaves the cupboard totally empty, then we have bigger issues to fix. And our current pitching staff is pretty damned good and pretty damned proven. I give up prospects and possibilities for proven.
Plus, this leaves us with more dollar flexibility going forward than would an ARod deal.
I'd do that deal as well
Pull the Trigger!
Do that trade right now! Please! I would immediately make the Angels the best team in baseball!
Projected Lineup
- Figgins
- O. Cabrera
- Vlad
- Miguel Cabrera
- Garrett Anderson
- Gary Matthews Jr.
- Dan Uggla
- Mike Napoli
- Casey Kotchman
- Figgins
- Kendrick
- Vlad
- Garrett Anderson
- Gary Matthews Jr.
- Juan Rivera
- Casey Kotchman
- Mike Napoli
- Orlando Cabrera
Another way to look at the lineups:
WHAT IS...
Player 2007 HRs
=======
Napoli 10
Kotchman 11
Kendrick 5
O Cabrera 8
Izturis 6
WHAT COULD BE...
Player 2007 HRs
=======
Napoli 10
Kotchman 11
Uggla 31
O Cabrera 8
M Cabrera 34
Yeah, I'd go into battle with that.
I'm glad I can come to Halos Heaven
But hey, what do I know. Guys with infinitely high ceilings in power, run production, and batting average are fucking useless. After all, he's OMGFAT.

Yeah, no kidding.
He and Vlad together would make Ortiz and Manny look like little leaguers.
Amen......Lets do this by Turkey Day
Howie Kendrick
Nick Adenhart
Another Pitcher (Saunders or Santana)
1 Outfielder (Willits, Evans, or Haynes) I would give them Anderson
If we give them all of this I would expect us to get Willits or Uggla cuz we are giving them a shit load of tallent.
Dream Deal
Kendrick
Adenhart (I dont want to give him up but you got to do what you got to do when it comes to business)
Willits (He cant field and has NO POWER but I would give up Anderson)
Santana (If we trade him he will fall apart without Vlad and Co.)
Starting Lineup
2B Figgins
SS Cabrera
RF Guerrero
3B Cabrera
LF Rivera
DH Morales
1B Kotchman
CR Napoli
CF Matthews
OH THE POWER!!!!!!!!!!
Vlad-35HR/Cab 2-40HR/Rivers-25HR/Ken-Mor-20HR+/Kotch-20HR+
that's dumb.
I forgot to mention the D-TRAIN
Escobar
Weaver
Dontrell
Saunders or Santana
The guy can mash
I still think there should be some kind of built in clause or incentive for staying in shape. He is 24, and though being out of shape may not stop you from hitting (hence the beer league softball player), it will stop you from getting to a ball drilled 2 feet to your left at the hot corner. Not to mention the health risks and recovery aspects that come along with being overweight (not trying to bag on people overweight as I am certainly not one to talk).
I guess I could really go either way on this one the more I think about it.
by autrys cowboys on Nov 15, 2007 12:28 PM PST reply actions
why dont we just.....
that seems like a even deal if we were to get miggy and ugly
if we do giv up kendrick i would expect willis and spicy alfredo(i always thought he was a great player) to b thrown in the deal
