Reagins' first screwup? Or Stoneman's last?

According to Stephen Smith and Jamey Newburg, the Halos lost Warner Madrigal to a paperwork foulup. He is now property of the Texas Rangers.

We seem to be pretty good at losing relief pitchers to other teams...here's another example of just giving away a good arm with nothing to show for it. C'mon guys...

i saw this also, this could haunt us...

for a long time. if it doesn't piss you off to see bobby jenks close against us just imagine how it's going to feel to have madrigal in the same division.

This is awful, but

he was in A ball this year. This isn't a finished product like Jenks, Turnbow, Peralta, Wise, etc...

The annoying thing is that they made the move to convert him to pitcher and invested a year on him in that capacity. They MADE him a reliever and helped him progress in that mold and now, bam, they lose him.

But, to return to reality, wake me when he makes it to AAA...

Not sure what's worse

In the case of Jenks, it was a conscious decision (calculated gamble). In the case of Madrigal, it was a purely avoidable accident. Actually, this is worse, because it suggests they don't know what they're doing, as opposed to simply taking a calculated risk.

Pretty much my opinion

Madrigal had some value, though. Very sloppy, indeed.

as angels fans we should want

him to quickly progress through texas's farm system. Come up to the bigs next september, show signs of being the best closer ever, have texas sign him to a HUGE contract, then have his career end with injury or him turn out to suck like ramon ortiz. That would be a win win for the angels and Madrigal but suck for texas.
