Jimmy Rollins has inexplicably won the 2007 NL MVP Award.
the phillies' playoff berth was 90% mets collapse. the colorado berth was 100% colorado's resurgence.
then factor in the fact that holliday beat the crap out of rollins across the board statistically (except SBs, and holliday put up a solid 11 of those anyway), and this was the easiest decision in a long time.
also, OPS+ sez: holliday 150, rollins 118. nevermind the other stats, that's a HUGE discrepancy. rollins isn't even in the top 15 in that category in the NL.
the selection becomes all the more unbearable after seeing that the phillies instantly got steamrolled in the playoffs during a sweep, as colorado went on to the world series. too bad the voters didn't get to see that.
Oh well. East coast/region bias strikes again!
