Greatest Minor League Team of All-Time
I came across this on milb.com and thought it was great.
Sure, the Angels don't have the same kind of storied past as the teams with a deep AL/NL history, but the PCL was as good as it gets out west and the Angels, for decades, fielded some of the best teams in the league's history. If you are a new fan or just don't have much knowledge on what they Angels were before Anaheim, I highly recommend reading this article. It might be a new source of pride for those of you who thought Angel history began in 1961.

For even more information on the PCL Angels, take a glance at their Wikipedia site, where some dedicated fans/historians have assembled a great batch of information:

As I always understood it...
Also, Autry and MLB essentially hijacked the name without compensating the Dodgers for its use. The Dodgers resented the maneuver and many people see that single action as being the impetus for the "rivalry" between the two teams (and for the constant clashes while the two teams shared Chavez Ravine/Dodger Stadium).
And I disagree about it not being Angels' history. It absolutely is. Most PCL Angel fans re-adopted the team immediately (my grandfather and father among them). The uniforms were nearly identical. They played at the same field, they brought Bilko back. The hiatus was short-lived and the team always had its roots in the southland. They didn't move around like the other PCL teams.
I think you should embrace the PCL Angels. At the very least, they're connected enough that this modern version wouldn't exist without the first (and neither would the logo in your signature).

Del Rice, Gene Mauch, Jimmie Reese
And I am pretty sure that Autry ended up paying O'Malley for the right to take the name "Angels". Of course, the original contracts between O'Malley and Autry were so difficult and full of payments tot he Dodgers that Autry had to pay for the use of toilet paper at Dodger Stadium during his tenancy there!
Autry Paid
I know there were others but
