Getting to Know You

I've been thinking... A lot of us have been coming to this site for awhile and besides the occasional Vegas trip not many of us get to intermingle or see what our fellow HH'ers are like. I figured I'd make this post because it would be nice to hear a little bit about each person that posts here regularly. Plus until the winter meeting we know nothing of great importance is going to happen anyway.
Maybe after getting to know your HH'ers next time your at the game you can say hi.
I figured the best way is to have every say where you sit if you have season seats, what city they live in, what year they became an Angels fan, best angels memory and something about themselves, maybe an interesting tidbit.

I'll start:
Sinatrasratpack is 27 years old

Star-divide

-I sit in section 516 I have had season seats for about 4 years
-I live in Chino Hills (I see Roenoke driving around all the time)
-I was indoctrinated by my LA family to be a Dodgers fan from birth until I reached an age where I could make up my own mind (around 1990) However even though my family was Dodger fans we had Angels season seats???? odd
-Best Angels Memory was Spezio hitting the Homer in game 6
-Interesting fact: I am related to Joe DiMaggio He is my Great Uncle

I hope that we all get to know each other a little more, because no matter what background we come from we have one important thing in common We bleed Angels Red (or perrywinkle blue depending if you just woke up from a 8 year coma)

This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan. Tell us what you think and how you feel.

I'll go next
Nobody know's me, but I've been around for the last 2 years or so. I  just could never log in because the password would never make it to my email box. But I finally made it in so here I am.
  • Im 23
  • I havent jumped on board and bought season tickets yet, even though every year I say this is the year. I usually get tickets through ticket exchange, scalp, or go with friends who have season tickets near 3rd base dugout.
  • I live in La Habra.
  • I became a fan in 2002 when they started winning.  jk Ive been Angel fan since I was a kid and had little league days walking around field. My Dad tried to raise me a Dodger fan but I just can't bleed blue. Angel stadium is so much closer to my house so we would go to a lot more Angel games which led me become the Angel fan that I am today.
  • There are a ton of Angel memories but I guess you have to say 2002 postseason. How could you not?
  • Interesting Fact: Im related to Benjamin Rush. He signed the Declaration of Independence. He wasn't really all that important in the whole situation, but he was there. And he signed it. So thats cool in my book.
Anyways, Its nice to finally get to participate and Im sure we will have some fun on here. Everyone seems pretty cool and knowledgeable which makes the forums worthwile.

GOOD TIMES...
I'm nearly 33

I usually buy one of the mini-game plans and sit in right field.  This past year I was one section up from the Rev.

I live in Orange, near the OC Mining Co. restaurant.

I grew up in Buena Park, and was a Dodger fan until I was about 12, since my dad grew up in Hawthorne.  I used to go to bed at night listening to Vin Scully call play by play.  Living 15 minutes away from the stadium made it a lot easier to be an Angel fan, so here I am.

Best Angel's memory?  Gotta be Game 7 of the World Series.  I was in the process of buying my house, and my Realtor gave me tickets before the series started for free.  I had no idea that they would make it to a game 7.  I almost turned off Game 6, when they were down.  I coudln;t hear anything but a high pitch buzzing in my ears for about 3 days afterwards.

No real interesting facts that I can think of!

I'm younger than Scioscia, older than Steve Finley

Section 240

I live near Slauson and Alameda south of Downtown L.A.

Grew up in a Dodger household in La Mirada and picked the Angels out of contrarian necessity.

Best Angel memory was an extended session of pre-game spitting at the Oakland players with my Boy Scout Troop in like 1976 and not getting busted.

Interesting fact: If you look real real close I am in a few crowd shots in the movie THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION...

What the heck
I'm 45 (pass the Geritol).

I live in LA, so I don't get much chance to go down to the Big A.  When I do, I pick up what's available online, sometimes from TicketExchange.  I usually wind up in the 2xx or 4xx sections, left field side.

I lived in OC (Santa Ana) till I was 10, and that's where I became an Angels fan.   Then we moved to LA, and my sister bleeds blue  (sorry), and until the Sosh era, was insufferable.

I'm the product of a mixed marriage -- Dad was a Cubs fan, Mom a White Sox fan.

Best Angels memory is also Game 6.  Though my family lived in Boston for a year when I was 6 (1969), and we went to the Red Sox pancake breakfast... they were playing the Angels!!!!

Another funny anecdote from that time, since we were only there for a year (temporary assignment), we lived in transient housing.  Bruins players during the winter, and Bosox players in the spring/summer.  We lived directly below Dick Williams.  Anyways, my mom was always too shy to go ask him for tix, until one day she finally got up the nerve.   It happened to be the day he was fired.

Another interesting fact... I'm related to the infamous Sidney Korshak.

ACUDA27
  • Im 20
  • Not a season ticket holder but my cousin is. I go to about 12 games a season and sit in section 427 along 1st Base in row A.
  • I live in La Habra just like Krush40.
  • Became a fan in 2004. I really didnt like baseball because when I was a kid my dad would sit there and watch baseball on the weekends and never take us out so I hated baseball. But one summer day I was channel surfing when I stopped on the Angels Game. Within the first 5 minutes Vlad hit a BOMB. I said to myself, "I guess I could watch this." And since then I have been a Die Hard Angels Fan. My dad/older brother and sister/ and youngest sister are Dodger fans so I have fun picking on them.
  • Kendry's 2Run HR to tie the game on may 9th.
  • I manage/play on my own team in the National Adult Baseball Association (NABA).

If you need people let me know. I live on the other side of that hill. I play softball on Wed, so switching back to fastpitch may take some time. But Im available to play some pick up on some sunday afternoon.

I can play anything but pitcher and catcher. I used to catch but the knees aren't so good anymore. Not sure I have time to join another team, but pick up is always fun.

We were playing over the line
when some Chinees guys asked if we wanted to play a friendly Softball game. We ended up playing 8 on 8 and had a Blast. My team won 25-16. For some reason I find it harder to field a Softball than a baseball.

I'll try and get a game together for this Sunday. How many people can you get? I have 5 for sure and 4 that are questionable. It will just be a friendly game just to practice and get back into baseball.

Here I go..
Im 28

No season seats for me, but still manage to get to 15 to 20 games a year and Spring Training ever year for my birthday.

I live in Rancho Cucamonga now, born and raised in Whittier.

I became an Angel fan out of a little laziness on my Pop's side.  The stadium was much closer to Whittier and my earliest memory is booing when everybody else was chanting Booooone.
I also got into a brawl with some Mariner fans in high school right outside the front gate, and have literally bled red ever since.

No real interesting facts, although my Gramps struck out Joe Dimaggio while playing at Whittier College against the Santa Ana Base during the war.  He ended up signing with the Dodgers and played with Jackie Robinson, but always praised Joe and said he unreal to watch in person.

*My best Angels memory is the Angels clinching the World Series in 2002, I had waited forever for that moment and it felt GREAT!!

In case no one knows already...
I have been an Angel fan since my first game in '77.  My family had season tickets from '77 until 1995.  My formative years were spent in Row E of Aisle 27 watching the likes of Bobby Grich, Frank Tanana, Rod Carew, Reggie Jackson, "Disco" Dan Ford, the late Lyman Bostock (r.i.p), Joe Rudi, Nolan Ryan, Wally Joyner, Tim Foli (same birthday as me), Mike Witt, Kirk McCaskill, Fred Lynn, Bob Boone ("Remember B&B says Go Angels!") and of course that muscular kid from La Habra that wore glasses, none other than one of the greatest Angels, BRIAN DOWNING.

After the heartbreak in '95 (and the strike that cancelled the W.S. the year before), my Dad did not renew our seats.

While still remaining a fan, I still attended at least 1 game a year until I bought season tickets in Section 106 beofre the '02 season, where I remain today.

There have been many great Angel memories, but Game 5 of the ALCS (cue Rory with "...and he's homered three times!") clinched their first pennant and trip to the WS.  After the dissapointment of '82, '86, and '95 it was very gratifying.

I grew up in Arcadia, but now live in Ladera Ranch. Even though its in Orange County, it takes almost as long to get to games as it did when I lived in Arcadia.  Must be the traffic!

Last but not least, with regard to age, I will be th esam eage as GA this year, and for my interesting fact, I am the only person (as far as I know) in the history of the C.I.F. to have caught and then thrown a no-hitter in back to back games.  The headline was, "Another Game, Another No-Hitter."  While that did get me some exposure and I played in college (with former Angel Keith Johnson) and was not quite as effective.  In fact, I had Phil Nevin hit a ball off of me in a game that I think is still travelling.

It is way overdue Arte. #5 needs to be retired by the Angels.

London calling...
The Limey, 35 years of age

I sit in my armchair to watch the game which is 5 and a half thousand miles from the Big A, at about 1.30am on a Sunday night hurling abuse at a witless buffoon called Jonny and his half-arsed chowder-headed accomplice on Channel 5.  They do me the courtesy of showing an Angels game about 3 times a year (at least 1 of which is utterly ruined by the now annual Playoff humping from the accomplice's Boston buddies - it ends here and now, goddamit)

As noted above, I'm a Londoner, though I was blessed with a 7 year detour to Orange County in my teenage years

First game was a early season game versus the Tigers, which the Angels won 4-2 (I think).  I was sat so far up behind home plate I'm surprised I didn't get a nosebleed.  My dad was/is a cheapskate.

Highlights include

  1. Almost getting decapitated by a Wally Joyner, fouled line-drive in '86 (I didn't get the ball)
  2. Convincing some guy called Bob from Placentia (?) to buy me and D a couple of beers during a day game with about 12 people in the stadium.  Apparently his wife was English.  We were about 16.  If you're out there Bob, you're a scholar and a gentleman, Cheers!
  3. Yankees-Angels at Yankee stadium this summer (after 15 years without a live game)

...I was referring to last summer - the 14-9 game that we lost.

See my take on it here:

http://www.halosheaven.com/story/2007/7/7/13587/27179

I'll be stopping through LA on the way to Australia in October, so should get a game there (assuming everything has gone well).  But if I get a NY trip, I'll drop you a line, maybe catch a game and a beer (or a pepsi?).

Info.
Clutch
22 years old--23 next month!
Born at St. Jude's in Fullerton, raised in Irvine and Newport Beach, where I now live.
My big brother wanted to name me Douglas, after DeCinces. Thankfully that did not happen.
Went to games here and there with the family and for birthday parties throughout my childhood. My Dad had great (shared) season seats through his company back when the current incarnation of the stadium had just opened. No rats back then, just great churros. Or something. Became a "real" fan (as in actually following everything) in '05 (see my profile page).

Interesting fact: According to www.ancestry.com, I'm related to Ray, Bob, Bret, and Aaron "Bleeping" Boone. They're supposedly my seventh/etc. cousins, but it's a very dubious link. Actually am related to George Lucas (through my grandmother), though.

Another interesting fact
I didn't play baseball in high school. That's not the interesting part.

BUT

I was at my old HS today to see a friend in the college counseling office. The topic turned to the school's sports performance, and I asked who coached baseball now that the long-time coaches (brothers) left a few years ago.

"Oh, we've unfortunately had to get outside coaches."

"Well who'd you get?"

"Oh, BOBBY GRICH."

Bobby effing Grich now coaches baseball at my old HS (at least he did last year--now he's a "consultant"). I am SO jealous.

Hi - I'm Brody
I'm 28.  I grew up in Yorba Linda (where my family still lives) and went to El Dorado.  Since college, I have bounced around from North Carolina to Chicago to DC (I really miss SoCal though and will be back in a year or so!).

I have been an Angels fan for life (or at least as long as I can remember).  My mom was and is very close to Brian Downing's wife -- his second son Brandon went to school with me and his youngest son Brent was a classmate of my brother's.  Mark McLemore bought puppy Dobermans from us and he and Brian both gave us some cool autographed gear (bats, pictures, balls, etc.).

As a kid, I got to be honorary ballboy and sit in the dugout and stand with the players during the national anthem.  It was amazing!  Everyone (except Luis Polonia) was so cool to me; Chuck Finley in particular became a real hero of mine and I was devastated when we let him go.

It is difficult being away from the team.  I can't wait to move home and get season tix - and I can't wait for this season (we are going to be great!)!!!

Thanks for listening - nice to meet all of you.

I had players cards for everyone
and he refused to sign his (or even let me come near him).  Not that I was entitled to anything, but everyone else was really cool about it and asked me questions, took pictures, etc., and he wouldn't even sign a card.  He also flipped someone off for no reason at all.  Good base-stealer, but just a jerk in my opinion.

I see Matt Welch is joining us next year, we need to plan some DC/Balt HaloHeaven meetups when we play the O's and Nationals this year.

Summer 1975
My father took me to a doubleheader just before my 8th birthday in 1975. It was a hot July Saturday that had me eating many of Chocolate Malts. That day I became an Angel fan just like my father who had grown up going to games at old Wrigley Field in downtown Los Angeles.
It was tough being an Angel fan back then as they were not good at all, but boy for a kid just turning 8 they had some great names like Bruce Bochte, Jerry Remy, Dave Chalk, Mickey Rivers,  Bobby Valentine, Frank Tanana, Nolan Ryan, and a guy named Bill Singer which I thought was a funny name as my mother had a sewing machine with the same name. Funny thing is 20 years later I would find myself working with that same Bill Singer.
A few years later my father would end up being an usher working at the Big A. A lot of aerospace employees and government (letter carriers) found it to be fun and a chance to see games while getting paid. Me I saw it as a great way to get to the ball park as a 11 year old kid. Many summer nights were spent hanging out with the group that use to hang their "Angelmania" banner over the KMPC booth with the first official rally monkey that banged its symbols when things went well, and there was a lot that year as the Angels clinched their first AL Western Division Championship.
I went on to buy seasons tickets later on in life only to pass on them when getting tickets to games became free, but have always been a true Angel fan.
Age: do the math
Location: Long Beach / Lakewood
Go to about 20 games a year
Too many to talk about, but 2002 WS stands out the most.

Aerospace Employees
"A lot of aerospace employees"

When I was commuting between the SFV and Boeing Anaheim (91&Kramer/Glasell), I'd go to the game after work so as to avoid rush hour on the 91/5/105/405/10/whatever freeway.

Sure, there was a bit of a crush getting out of the parking lot, but the game (and the easy ride home) was worth it.

howdy y'all
ok my name is roman
im 22 years old

i sit wherever i can find seats, i dont care where im at as long as im at the game, but closer is better obviously :) but unfortunately i only get to see the angels when they are up in seattle playing the mariners, i can always be seen wearing my tim salmon jersey and a rally monkey around my neck. at least portland has the beavers so i get to see the bees all the time, kinda cool seeing kotchman, mcpherson, morales, etc etc etc come up over the years.

i live outside of portland oregon but was born in palm springs and raised in hemet california, at least until i was 8, then moved to denver colorado, and now portland.

i have always been a die hard fan, i first started following the team in 1992 when i was about 7, i was also in the "junior angel club" and i still have the tim salmon rookie of the year poster. my entire family is made up of angel fans but im the biggest one!

my favorite angels memory was seeing tim salmon hoist the world series trophy high above his head. nobody else in the entire league deserved it as much as he did.

i dont really have an interesting fact, but im fairly certain im the biggest angels fan in the state of oregon :) oh and tim salmon asked me if he could sign my jersey, of course i said yes!

God I love this beaver kid
I'm almost pushin daisies. I love this beaver kid. I was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.C. I saw games at the Polo Grounds with Willie Mays. I watched Jackie Robinson play in New York. I was born in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Look it up in Wikepedia. Home of Bugsey Siegel, Mike Tyson and other low-lifes. I've lived in almost every city that has a ball park. But our family has lived in Buena Park since 1959. It takes 17 minutes to get to Angels Stadium most days. Used to sit in the MVP 415 section for a lot of years and then it got to be a job when they put those new housing units in, well almost in, as I cant stand driving anymore. Anyway, I just like baseball. I've been going down to Tucson for Spring training. Best place to see games is at the field where the Rockies have spring training Hy-Corbett field or Ty Corbett park. It's a really nice park. The other field, Tucson Electric Park is just a concrete school yard type shared between Dbacks and WhiteSox. Don't buy advanced tickets for this place. But for the Rockies Park you can sit as close as 25 feet from home plate and talk to all the players. It's the nicest park. The Angels played in Tucson twice last spring. Weaver pitched one game and he was extremely intense. Most intense kid, pacing in the outfield grass before the game about first spring training game appearance. I best liked selling concessions at Yankee Stadium during the era of Maris and Mantle. Thanks for listening!

Hey
  • Nzach54... 25 years old
  • The only place I sit regularly is the press box since I'm a member of the media (going to games for free and getting paid for it... the only way to go)
  • Born at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, lived in Yorba Linda my entire life and went to El Dorado
  • My mom was the sports fan in the house and would make sure to take my brother and I to a handful of games every summer
  • Best Angels Memory: being in the clubhouse getting doused with booze and champgane after every series clincher in '02 (Benji Gil tried to pour tequila down my throat after Game 7 against the Giants... I had to pass since I was "working")

Me
Age 25. Live in Madison, WI, pursuing a physics degree.

Became a fan in 1995 as a 13 y/o just getting into baseball. Angels were hot and I lived in Santa Ana, so there you have it. Luckily I stuck through the rest of '95 (and '6 and '7 ...). I was hooked.

I also lived in the Bay Area (go Bears) and went to several A's games-- got to see Lackey mow down 27 consecutive A's for my favorite Angels memory, along with seeing the Angels clinch in Oakland.

The later leads to my interesting fact: my mug is on this site (http://www.halosheaven.com/story/2005/9/30/43620/7229). Also, I'm also a card carrying member of the ACLU just waiting to rip into you Bush-loving freedom-dismissing conservatives.

Pattimelt
same age as Nap's number.

married and now living in Fullerton, where my hubby has lived all of his life.  Hubby works in the Music Business as a roadie, and just finished a tour of Europe and Russia this past Friday with Delores O'Riordan from the Cranberries.  For those of you with Heavy Metal roots, Blackie Lawless was the best man at my wedding.

NOT originally an Angels fan.  Born and raised in Detroit, where my first game was when I was 5 years old and I went to opening day in 1968 and ended up sitting on my uncle's lap, cause my seat was behind a POLE.  (it's ok, it was WARMER there, cause I remember it SNOWING that day!!!)

First Angels game was Opening day, 1996.  Moved here in February, and hubby wanted me to switch teams, so he took me to an Angels game, and I've been a fan ever since.

Disabled Army Vet from Desert Shield/Storm.  I was stupid and missed the repelling rope and fell about 3.5 stories out of a helicopter.

Currently employed by Disneyland, where I am actually pretty happy, even though the pay REALLY sucks.

Favorite Angels memory??  I stood in line at the stadium for over 17 hours to get WS tickets, and by the time I got to the window, I could only buy tickets for 3 games-- so I couldn't get in to game 7.. Went to hang in the parking lot, at least, figuring I would get to hang with other Angels fans.  Went to the bathroom over by the Orangewood gate, and on the way back, met a limo driver with a mini tv on the roof of his car.  Asked him about the score, etc, and he GAVE me his ticket to get inside the stadium--he didn't want to go in-- and his ticket was in the DIAMOND CLUB!!!!!!!  By the bottom of the 1st, I was standing right outside the Diamond Club restaurant and I watched every second of that game-- and have confetti and streamers STILL from the celebration!!!!!!

Enough of my life story..

NEXT!!!!!

by darkangel01 on Nov 28, 2007 8:36 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

LOL
Every time someone asks me about raw meat, I remember how many days I called around the NY Tri-State area looking for a wood chipper that would "throw meat"-- we finally found one, and it cost like $3K-- and Blackie actually wanted to throw a live chicken in it during one of the Irving Plaza shows.  The health department heard about it somehow, though and prohibited the use of a LIVE animal-- so we had to go out and buy 50 lbs of meat from a butcher, and Blackie put that in the chipper and the meat FLEW into the audience!!

No raw meat or codpieces were allowed at the ceremony or reception, though the only person in a color OTHER than black was me.

To make this more off topic-- my wedding "photographer" happened to be a guy who in later years went on to become the tour manager for Great White when they played in Rhode Island and that bar burned down.

Idaho Angels fans
Tanana40
Age 43, university professor
male
Started to become a fan around 1974. The first year I followed the team on a daily basis was 1976. I always loved baseball from at least age 5. Nolan Ryan was the first player that made me pay attention to the Angels. The Angels had a minor league team in Idaho Falls (2 hours from my home), a AAA team in SLC (2.5 hours) and Jerry Remy started his career playing for an independent team in Twin Falls (1 hour away). So becoming a fan of the Angels was only natural. I listened to the Angels on the radio (then 710 KMPC) and a clear station out of Bakersfield (that later switched to the Dodgers. I couldn't get the games until it was nearly dark and I kept score of all home games (I still have the scoring books). Dick Enberg, Don Drysale and Al Wisk were great. I also liked Bob Starr and Ron Fairly.

Frank Tanana was my favorite Angel of the 1970s. After a long absence in the late 1980s and early 1990s, I am glad the triple A team is back in SLC as I enjoy seeing the young prospects like Kotch, McPherson, Howie, and Wood come through and get to see them play several times a year. My favorite memory is Glaus' double over Bonds head in Game 6. I was convinced the Angels would lose so I taped Game 6 and went to a football game. I had found out that the Angels had rallied and driving home, Glaus blasted the double as I listened to the radio call. I nearly swerved off the road and I had to pull over to regain my composure.

AngelFan35
-I guess I'm the youngest so far: same as King Fish's #

-I live in Hawaii, so my seat is in front of the TV (we get FSN West)... and I play softball

-I've been a fan since about '04 or '05... I guess it's pretty recent, but it feels like its been forever.  Since I live in Hawaii, I wasn't really into pro sports until I went to my first game (there's nothing like seeing it live!). Ever since then, I've been a DIEHARD fan... None of my friends understand: they all think I'm out of my mind.

My first game was in '05, I think.  Third row on the left field line, vs. the Nationals. It was the first game of the series with the Jose Guillen/Frank Robinson/Brenden Donnelly incident.  The Halos kicked butt: 11-1 (chicken wings!)

The last couple of years, I've come up to O.C. to catch a game or two.  I'm pretty sure it's becoming an annual thing.  (We have family friends in the area, who are also Angel fans). Oh, and I went to spring training this year! I'm trying to butter up my parents to go again in '08... :)

-My favorite Angel memory: When I went up to O.C. this year, we went to a Saturday game vs. the Orioles, and we sat in the first row in right field (right next to Vladdy!) Unfortunately, the foul pole blocked my view of half the infield (that thing is HUGE!), but whatever.  ANYWAY, Aybar gets ROBBED by Nick Markakis (he almost picked off Kotch @ 1st base, too. Even Kotch thought it was out!). It was cool cause it happened several seats down from us. Then, this Orioles fan gets out of his seat and comes down in the front and starts trash talking and getting all worked up. He was ticking everyone off. He went back to his seat after a while... THEN, next batter: NAPOLI! He crushed one over the RF wall and Markakis didn't have a chance. That shut up the Orioles fan! I'm pretty sure he left the game after that.

Honorable mention for my memorable moment goes to Adam Kennedy's 3-run walk-off HR in the '06 season vs. the Orioles. That just sticks in my memory for some reason. Oh, and Figgy's 6-6 night and G.A.'s 10 RBI game...

Wow, sorry this was so long! Didn't mean 2 blab as much as I did...

Just don't ask for a CC#...
gorams77 and just turned 30
I grew up in La Puente and Walnut before family moved to Albuquerque when I was in HS. Had stops in Chicago area and Denver but now live in Chandler, AZ so I don't get to go to any of the reg season games - but Spring Traning is the best time of year out here.  If you've never been - I highly reccommend.  I go to plenty of games where no seat in the house is a bad seat and the weather is beautiful.

Been a fan since mid/late 80's when Wally World was in full effect.  Me and my brother were born on the same day 2 yrs apart so everyone treated us like twins on birthdays - same gift different color type stuff.  Anyway one year I got a Rams shirt and my brother Raiders (the whole fam was Raider fans) and I have been die hard Rams ever since.  So when it came time to pick my favorite baseball team it was easy, the whole family was Dodger fans so I figured I'd continue the black sheep role go and be an Angels fan.  Thank god - I love this team.

Spezio's jack had to be my best memory.  "We didn't win cause Spezio hit a single..."

No interesting facts really - just love sports and love baseball.

Let's see
-21 year old male
-Live in Arcadia, CA when I'm "home"
-Attend school at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ; 4th year journalism major with a minor in history
-Moved to California from New Jersey in 1994.  Although raised as a Mets fan in New Jersey, this move was pre-widespread internet, so I wanted a local team to follow since it was so hard.  Mets were rivals to the Dodgers, and the Angels were so appealing and fun to watch.
-First Angels fan memory was watching J.T. Snow hit a bomb into the right field seats in Anaheim.  He became my favorite player.  In 1997, I couldn't stop saying "fuck Allen Watson"...before it was trendy and warranted.
-Best Angels memory is Spiezio, of course.  Especially since I had practically given up on the game and series at that point.  I was damn near watching by peering through my fingers.  If they lost, I thought I was damn near gonna cry.
-No season tickets, but I will eventually.  I go to 6-12 games a year when I'm back there, but that's only from mid-May to late-August/early-September

Interesting fact: Like one of the first posters in here, I also have ancestors who signed the Declaration of Independence.  Robert Morris and George Clymer are a great great (etc.)...grandfather and uncle, respectively.  One is related to my mom's dad, the other my mom's mom.  they coincidentally knew each other 200 years before my grand parents even met.  Both have Wikipedia entries.  Check them out.  Half the state of Pennsylvania is named after Morris, and he pretty much single handedly funded the Revolutionary War.

  • Married with one daughter, live in Claremont

  • Grew up a Cardinals fan in Chicago, so I never got to root for the home team.  I vowed my daughter would not suffer the same fate
  • Moved to Claremont in 1994, and when my daughter was 8 and became interested in baseball, we became Angels fans
  • Was a vendor at Wrigley and Comiskey as a teenager; still the best summer job I can think of
  • Went to the ill-fated Game 5 of the 1986 ALCS with a friend from SoCal and watched Dave Henderson crush the Angels' hopes (I was not a fan at the time but still felt bad for everyone there, especially my friend)
  • Best Angels memory (other than 2002) is Figgy's 6 for 6, including the game winner just this past summer - what a game!
  • Random fact: Casey is related to Robert Morris.  My dad is named after Robert Morris.

Like pattimelt, same age as Nap's #.
  • Grew up in the SF Valley.  Father and grandfather were PCL Angels fans.  They just kept rooting for Autry's Angels despite a three year abscence 1958-1960.
  • "Officially" became an Angel fan at age 8 attending bat night vs. Milwaukee and watching Nolan Ryan strike out a gazillion Brewers.  Diehard fan ever since.  I really thought that Adrian Garret was The Answer.  Took a lot of ridicule in school years from Dodger fans.  Not so much now.
  •  Lived in Palmdale for 15 years, allowing me to see most of our prospects on a pretty regular basis when they visited the Lancaster Jethhawks.  Actually had a lengthy conversation with Frankie's wife one night.
  •  Currently live in Valencia.  Two kids.  Getting re-married in December.  Trying to convince my future spouse that Vladimir would be a great name for a baby (boy or girl).
  •  I own a tax prep business with two offices - one in Granada Hills, the other in Valencia.  Exciting, I know.
  •  True love is actually football.  I coached HS football for 13 years at Alemany, LA Baptist, Granada Hills, Paraclete, and Lancaster.
  •  So I like numbers/sabermetrics/performance analysis, but I do believe in intangibles and the ability to learn and get better.  Most stat geeks consider that a paradox.  Football coaches have been doing this forever.  Baseball is just now catching up.
  •  I am secretly in love with Rev's girlfriend.

At risk of getting dangerously exposed
  • Grew up in Garden Grove and until last week lived there for all but about six years.  Born only a few days after Randy Johnson.
  • Season tickets in section 526.
  • 2002 bandwagoner.  Quote from the wife after I was throwing things at the TV during WS Game 5: "You didn't care about this team until a couple weeks ago!" I've been cranky ever since. (And yes, I grew up a Dodger fan. Sue me.)
  • Best Angels memory: Speez hitting that homer was great, no doubt about it.  Personal memory at the park: the victory lap after Game 7, though watching Tim Salmon hit his first dinger (and one of his last) in April, 2006 after a lousy 2005 qualifies.  So does the K-Rod footrace to end the 2005 ALDS.

OK my turn
My name is Jeff and I'm 50 (which sounds old but really means I'm five years away from retirement and spending a dream summer following the halos around the country)

I sit in section 525 where I share season tickets with my brother

I live in Pleasantville NY, but I still make 30-35 games a year as well as all the games in Yankee Stadium and Camden Yard (I refuse to go to that decrepit firetrap Fenway, but I make an occasional game at Jacob's Field, Cellular Field, and the Park at Arlington)

I became a fan in 1966 when they moved to Anaheim.  We lived in Orange and my dad worked in the money room and took my brother and I to 30-40 games a year.  We sat near the right field foul poll and his usher friends watched over us.

Best Angel memory was being there when they came back in game six.  My memory tells me me that I was optimistic the entire game.  My son tells me I am full of shit and I was pretty much moping and bitching through six innings (its my memory...screw him)

Interesting fact: I am a direct descendant of Rebecca Nurse who was hung as a witch in 1692 in Salam Mass.  The chowderheads were f'ing with my family 315 years ago.  Talk about a curse.

  • Became a halos fan in 85 at age six, mainly due to my little league/pee wee baseball team being the angels as well.
  • Entire family is SF Giants fans. the words "two thousand two" tend to end any argument.
  • Best Angels Memory is easily attending game 6 of the WS and watching the heartbreak my family felt.
  • Ready and waiting for The Rally Rat Pack 2, making mental notes to not let the Rev's poor blackjack strategy affect my own game. The man hit on a 17......... ::shakes head::
  • Interesting fact: I would have had barry bond's face tattooed on my arm if the angels lost in 2002. My best friend ended up with a Halos Logo instead.

I am me.
32 years old.

Born and raised in Fredonia in Western New York, south of Buffalo.

I'm an Angels fan since about '86.  I don't remember exactly but I think it was because the toughest kid in school was a Rams fan.  I decided, pragmatically, to be a Rams fan as well (still am.)  When I became aware that the Angels played on the same turf, it made sense to root for them as well.  As all my friends became Yankee fans, it became fun to be the one guy who wasn't.  That and Wally Joyner was awesome!!!

I've only been to a few games in Cleveland.  That's where my dad is from and it's the closest MLB stadium.

Best non-2002 memory is seeing Wally hit 2 doubles off the old War Memorial wall in '89.  They were the 2 longest hits that day.

Interesting facts:
My daughter is named Sera because it's a cool way to name your daughter after the team without your wife realizing.

I too am descended from someone who signed the Declaration of Independence: Josiah Bartlett.

I'll Go Next
My names Bill the hune is part of my last name.

I'm 39 and haved lived in NJ my entire life. I have never seen the Angels play in person at Angels Stadium, but I have seen them play at Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium, Jacobs Field, and PNC Park.

Started rooting for the Angels in '79 when I was 11, so I do admit that I probably jumped on the bandwagon, but I was 11, and I have never jumped off.

My son's first game was Angels - Yankees in August 2006 (Yankees won)

A few Memories - Was at a wedding during Game 6 of the Series, and listened to the end of the game while driving home.
Was at Yankee Stadium when Shigetoshi Hasegawa came into a game, his name was so long, they couldn't put a space between his first and last name on the Yankee Stadium scoreboard.
And, as painful as it is, I still remeber watching game 5 of the '86 ALCS, and watching Henderson running around the bases and that look on Donnie Moore's face.

Interesting tidbit - I am a decendant of Charlemegne, and my great grandmother was recently inducted into the fly fishing hall of fame (posthumously) in the same class as Robert Redford.

Pain heals, Chicks dig scars, Glory lasts Forever!

V Hawk Angelorum
I am 36.

Born and raised in North Dakota, I now live in Wisconsin.

I do not own season tickets as I live 1,954 miles from Angel Stadium.  However, I go to all Angel games in Minneapolis and Chicago.  I also flew to Tempe last March to see four Angel spring training games - a lot of fun.

I have been an Angel fan as long as I can remember because Rod Carew was my favorite player.

Favorite Angel moment was watching Games 6 & 7 in 2002 with my newborn son.  Runner-up is watching Erstad's first MLB game in 1996 while visiting SoCal.

My parents went to high school with Darin Erstad's father - Kindred (ND) High School - Go Vikings!

I'll go
-I'm 34

-Born and raised in L.A.; but have lived in the OC for the past 17 years.

-Don't own tix, but hey -trying to figure out the best seats in different parts of the stadium is half the fun.

-I've been a Halo fan since '78 after meeting Grich in the parking lot after a game.

-Favorite Angels moment: Going to Nolan Ryan's last game at Anaheim Stadium, sitting at the top of the stadium in centerfield and seeing him go out the way a warrior should - His arm litterally fell off.

-Former Miss America/singer/actress Vanessa Williams is my cousin

"And the Anaheim Angels are the Champions of Baseball!"

-28 years old and married with an 8 month old son
-I live in Dana Point and work in San Clemente (tough commute to beat!)
-I was brought up an Angels/Dodgers fan.  My interest was re-sparked during the 2002 postseason and now it has given my dad and I something to bond over.
-There are a lot of great memories...but I would have to say either Jose Guillen getting cut or my son's first game this past year
-Interesting fact:  I think I may be the only person living in South Orange County that listens to old school country music and blue grass.....I understand if you would like to ban me from this site now.  BUT, I listen to pretty much everything besides rap.

Okay, here goes
SactoFan is 40.
Does not have season tix and tries to make it to one or two a year.
I live in Sacramento, obviously.  Although I was born and razed in Riverside and attended schools in LA and San Diego.
I've been a lifetime fan as my Dad wouldn't allow me to be a Dodger fan considering how they treated all of the Latinos in Chavez Ravine to build the damn place--yeah, it was political!
Outside of the WS championship, my best Angel memory is Carew's 3,000th hit with my old man.  Second runner-up is witnessing a drunken Jack Nicholson during the 2002 Divsional Playoffs wearing a Yankees cap being ousted from a seat that was not his in the Diamond Club by the acutal ticket holders and he got all pissed off.  Later, I ran into him in the men's room and I slapped him on the shoulder and said:  "hey jack, you're wearing the wrong cap!"  (True Story--but not in the David Byrne sense)
Adam Kennedy's dad was me and my brothers' high school football/baseball coach/government teacher and AK was a tiny batboy while I played at JW North, ahem, excuse me, while I rode the pine at JW North in the 80s.

  • Higz is 31
  • No season tix. I like to sit in the nosebleeds behind home plate (518, etc.)
  • I live in El Toro (Lake Forest if you're a snob)
  • Angels fan since '86 (Wally! Wally!), lost interest in the '90s, came back in 2002. Yeah, I'll admit it.
  • Best Angels memory: "Erstad... makes the catch!"
  • I'm not related to anyone who signed the Declaration of Independence - my ancestors actually fought in the Revolution. So there.

Go to school in Grand Rapids, MI. Grew up in the non-redneck part of Yucaipa in the IE.
Angels fan since 2000. I never liked baseball but randomly saw Spezio hit a grand slam while flipping through the channels and was a fan ever since.
Best moment was when I was at a friends house when we were down by 5 runs in game 6. Everybody wanted to leave to go to the movies but i stayed back to watch the game. And that's the story of why i love the angels and i don't have a girlfriend.
I was at GA's ten RBI game.

Somebody oil my wheelchair
I turn 51 on this upcoming Pearl Harbor Day.

I grew up in Orange, back when you could still see the new stadium while playing left field on the Little League team. I live in Santa Ana now, just south of Fairhaven cemetary, which puts me 5 minutes from the park and 50 yards from my final resting place.

I have made it from the Rev's seats (well, his 2006 seats) to my arm chair at home in 22 minutes flat after a game. So, yeah, I know the best Mexican food joints within 5 minutes of the stadium, and none of them are named Fresca's.

I grew up sitting in section 112, rows A, B or C. Now all you bandwagoners have pushed me up to Section 513. But I am probably the only HH'er with Slingbox, who can watch Angels broadcasts from my PDA anywhere my business travels take me.

I have my own missus (25 years just last week!)and two boys of college age, the older of which is Rubixsqube here. (Aside to halofan91: Rubix graduated from Harvey Mudd in Claremont two years ago, and is now a grad student.)

One of my favorite stories was from back in the early '70s. The A's were in town for the 4th of July game. For this game we did NOT get the free season tix behind home dugout, and ended up behind the foul pole in RF, upper deck. Therefore, we were allowed to move to the field for the fireworks show. We were to enter the field through the visitors bullpen which, at the time, was also where the A's were loading on to their bus for the trip to the airport. My brothers and I stood in awe as Joe Rudi picked up my baby brother - the autograph hound - and carried him onto the team bus for a signing orgy. Not 15 seconds later that same brother comes back OFF the bus, this time in the arms of Reggie Jackson. Team Captain had his rules, and one of them must have been "No cute little toddler baseball fans on MY bus, ever." And he was a real prick about it, too.

Best moment at a game was when my family got handed tix to Halos clinching day in Oakland in 2005. Got to sit literally right behind Sosh and my brother chatted with Moreno. It was Awesome.

When I lived in OC. I had 1/4 game tix for the lower part of the upper deck right behind home plate.

Hello all!....this is a fun and interesting thread
So here I go:

-34 years old (Just had a b-day Nov. 17)
-Grew up in Santa Ana. Now live in Anaheim for the las 10 years.
-My first love were the Dodgers I have to admit. But as I also followed the Angels because I loved the 80's uniform and I also paraded around the stadium for little league day (I played southeast little league in Santa Ana-padres,pirates,etc.-)
-I was the biggest Brian Downing fan (and then came Timmy -the fish- Salmon (How can you not love that guy?)I always wanted for an event to happen in which BD and the Fish were both there but I know BD and the Angels organization have some problems. Oh well! se la vie!
-My pre2002 fondest memory was when the Angels won the west in 86 (i think?) and the crowd all rushed the field and went BEZERK!
-Other memory has to be Timmy lifting the trophy and dedicating it to the fans.
-I attend about 10-20 games per (scalpers and box office)

And I love this community (HH). Hopefully we can have a gathering at opening day...REv??? I always go opening day...it's a personal tradition.

If I hear the word "red sox"...POW!!! RIGHT IN THE KISSER!!!

Helping you all know me
I'm the guy that posts all the what-if's. i.e. Projected trades and what the lineup, rotation, bench would look like. Haha, I just get giddy with Angel baseball.

My name is Matt, I'm 27 and I live in Key West, Fl. I grew up in Whittier, Ca with my both parents. My dad was the biggest Angel fan and taught me everything I know about the game. So, I guess you could say I grew up red and white, breathing Angel baseball. I have a lot of good memories. I'm not a season ticket holder... obviously, I live in Florida now.

My dad kinda knows Bobby Grich and they were able to hook me me up when I was 10 to be an honorary bat boy for a game. I rode in his mercedes, ate dinner with him and he gave me tips on how to hit. Haha, all this when I was 10! He also gave me a signed bat, which I still have. I've been comign to this site for a little over two years now.

That's about it. Great getting to know you guys.

  • I'm 29.
  • Married about 16 months, expecting our first child in Feb. (a boy)
  • Went to my first Angels game when I was less than a week old. (My mom bought season tickets when the Angels moved to Anaheim when she was in college and we have kept them ever since)
The seats are front row of the Diamond Club next to the visitor's on-deck circle (allowing me to get in great one liners on opposing players, like the clinching game this year I asked Jose Guillen if he was going to go to his 6th team in 6 years or if he was going to finish in 2nd place again next year)
  • I'm a HS Mathematics teacher (Algebra II, and Geometry) and I help out a bit with the baseball team.
  • I play softball on Fridays (I'm the pitcher)
  • My favorite Angels memory (from 2002 it was either Salmon taking Game 2 of the WS into his own hands, or Glaus' double to cap off the rally against Nen)
-My favorite non-2002 memory would have to be from a game a season or two before when Speizio hit a 3 run walkoff homer off of Todd Jones after Salmon had already hit a homer in the 9th.  It was a great comeback and IIRC not too long after they started the Rally Monkey which was not started in 2002 like many Angels fans believe.

Really the only way I can afford to go is by selling some of the tickets on the ticket exchange.  Basically selling a Yankee or Red Sox games lets me go to 2.5 games for free after you factor in the service charges.  I'm very interested to see how Stub Hub works, since we'll have to be using it this year.

Our bill for the entire year is 45000+, I barely make that after taxes.

Not actually a regular poster...
...but I promise to be this year.
  • I'm 22
  • I live in Oklahoma City and work  as a political analyst for a polling firm.  Originally from Irvine, a fact which makes me a minor celebrity among Okies.
  • Both parents are Cleveland Indians fans, but I became an Angels fan when I saw Luis Polonia steal home then I was somewhere around 9.
  • Favorite angels moment is Vlad going 2nd to home to score the game winning run on a Bengie Molina bunt in 2005.  I know it wasn't a franchise defining moment, yet somehow I was reduced to a sobbing mess.

First post ever!
I'm 30

I was born in Anaheim, but moved to NorCal when I was two.  Since I knew there was baseball, and I knew there was a team from Anaheim I've been an Angels fan.  I've grown up my entire life in hostile territory, having to deal with a good deal of the 27 remaining A's fans in the world.  Most of my family are die-hard Giants fans, which made 2002 an awkward experience, but the payoff was well worth it.

I've only been to about five games at the Big A in my life, but the last couple years have gotten MLB.tv so I could watch the Halos on the 'net.

My favorite memory was having to watch the last five innings of Game 6 taped, assured that the Angels had lost because the light on my answering machine was blinking and I was sure it was a Giants fan friend/family member calling to rub it in.  It made the victory that much sweeter.

Interesting fact...hmmmm.  I occasionally talk Angels stuff with the guy that plays Bob Vance of Vance Refrigeration on The Office through Myspace.  I've never actually met him before.

More of a Dodgers fan than an Angels fan, but still a diehard fan of both teams.  I live out of the metro LA/OC area, so I can root for both teams.  I live in the VTC and have been an Angels fan since the mid 70s when Nolan Ryan was hurling for the Halos.  My greatest Angels memory is going to an Angels game at the Kingdome in 1982 (while on vacation) and finding out that the Angels team was staying at our hotel.  Turns out they weren't and I stayed up til 130am sitting in the hotel's front lobbey waiting for the team to arrive, with a little Angels banner parked next to me.  Eventually a Mariners rookie pitcher who took the loss in that nights game wandered through the lobbey and chatted with me for a little while.  I got his autograph, then went back to my room.  We had great seats to that game, as there weren't too many people in the stands.  I remember the game because of two things, there was a nasty fight between Rod Carew and one of the Mariners pitchers and there was this one really drunk and annoying Mariners fan (a Navy sailor) who kept yelling at Todd Cruz the whole game, for whatever reason.

Mi chiamo Chris......
  • I'm 35 years old
  • University Professor
  • Live in Delaware, OH (north of Columbus)
  • Not sure when I became an Angels fan really, I always liked them when I was younger, and I got to see them a bit more once they became a playoff staple.
  • 2 best Angel memories...the first is the WS win, of course (though I wasn't there), and the second was in August when I got to visit the big A for the first time to see a game.
  • Best thwarted Angel memory - when I had box seats for the Angels at Tiger Stadium in 1995, but it was rained out and I didn't ever get the chance to redeem the rain check, even to see another team.
  • Interesting fact:  I'm trying to learn Italian (thus the cheesy intro subject). Also, I did radio news for the local station in northern Michigan while I was an undergraduate.

Lifelong Angels fan.  I was a Jr Angels for most of the 70's.

Best memories are "Yes We Can", getting Paul Hartzells autograph on a ball (my very first), and Jimmie Reese coming over to say hello to me and my son at a game once.

Thought of some more stuff to share:

My dad was at Nolan Ryans 3rd no hitter.  A couple years ago he came across his two ticket stubbs, I got one and my brother got one.  He couldnt remember who went with him to the game, but I like to think it was me.

He also gave me an old scorecard where he scored Ryan throwing 19K.  I now score every game I ever go to.

I purchased two orange seats from the stadium renovation and have them in my Angels-decorated guest room.

Frank Tanana (and Paul Hartzell, see above) were my first favorite Angels.

For the Yes-We-Can season I spray painted an old sheet with the saying and logos and hung it in front of the garage door during the series.

Better late then never
I'm 28.  Just celebrated my first wedding anniversary on 11/9.

I was born in Williamsport, PA (where the Little League World Series is held every year).  Carl Stotz, the founder of Little League Baseball, taught me how to throw a curve ball.

I'm a Film/Video Editor, which is why the wife and I packed everything we could fit in the Uhaul and headed west 4 years ago.

I played baseball my entire childhood, but never took to watching the pro game on television.  Williamsport is in dead central PA, 4 hours from Pittsburgh and 3 and a half from Philly so it wasn't like I had a local team to root for.  I started following the Angels pretty rabidly at the end of the '04 season.

No season seats...yet.  Last season I made it to about 28 games at the Big A, (and 1 in Oakland) with most of the seats coming from TicketExchange.  I usually sit in RF, somewhere between 236 and 240.  If I feel like splurging I'll sit somewhere between 207 and 209.

My favorite memory in my short Angels fandom would have to be Figgy's 6 for 6 night in the comeback win over the Astros.  I was there and it was probably the single greatest performance I've ever witnessed by a professional athlete.

We'll be fine.

My turn
43.

Long time lurker (think i started checking in at the end of '04) but only recently began posting.

Raised in the Valley, moved back to the Valley. Became a fan via watching Dick n' Don broadcast the games on KTLA in '74... memories of offensive machine Leroy Stanton. The Dick Williams debacle. F. Robinson bitching and moaning.

I remember vividly the opening season sweep of the brand-new Mariners in '77 at the Kingdome, thinking that the team was finally a powerhouse thanks to the FA money the Cowboy was dropping. Joe Rudi had an incredible first half before he got hurt. Never the same, sadly.

Loved the '78 team. To me, really the first great Halo team in my memory. I was a paper boy, delivering the L.A. Herald Examiner, and I remember how cool it was that Lyman Bostock wanted to give his salary back because he sucked it up so badly when he first came to Anaheim. Chris Knapp had  a great first half, but greed did him in and he was not long for The Show. That was the first year after the Bonds trade -- Knapp, Downing, Frost. Nice work, Buzzy (or was it Harry Dalton?) Lyman RIP.

Greatest memory: Sitting in sweet seats procured by Kenny Katella during the Yanks playoff series in '02 and watching the Halos beat David Wells' fat ass and starting to believe that the curse was behind us.

An Angel in Dodger Town
* 24 years old

* Born and raised in the greatest place on earth:
  Venice, CA

* First person in my family to be born in the
US, my parents are Scots (Hail, Hail the Celts
  are here!).

* My dad became an Angel fan when he moved here
in '79, partly because of the YES WE CAN! year,
and partly because all the Dodger fans he knew
  were dick-heads.

* I followed suit and would be horribly teased in
school for being a fan of the "inferior" team.

* Greatest game i've ever been to: the 2002 Aug
31th game against TB D Rays. Although it was
a bit of an ugly seen, I truely believe that
when Selig saw all those "laid-back" Anaheim
fans chanting, "NO STRIKE, NO STRIKE!" and
throwing foul balls back onto the field he must
have crapped his depends a little. This had to
help him knock out a deal.

August 14 and 16, 1974
Were my first two games at the Big A. Tanana and Ryan. Remember seeing guys like Frank Robinson, Bobby Valentine, Bruce Bochte.  When we won the division in '79 it felt like I'd been waiting forever.

I go to 20-30 games a year now, I like to sit in the Lower View MVP.

A couple of personal favorite moments:

July 1985, watching Reggie Jackson make a game-saving catch in rightfield against the Brewers.  Not sure what Reggie was doing playing defense late in the game, but he made a nice diving catch.

Opening Night, 1988, Mark McGwire goes deep in his first AB against Kirk McCaskill. The next time he was up McCaskill nails McGwire in the helmet, touching off a nice brawl.

Adam Riggs game winning hit against the Yankees, ending a 1-0 game in the 10th.

Giving Moose Stubing hell over his WAC referee work, and Moose being gracious enough to come over and talk to us.

The Angels winning the World Series on my birthday.

My Turn
Im a 22 year old (female) recent college grad from LA. Went to high school in Sherman oaks, I live in Hollywood now. Grew up rooting for the Angels and Dodgers though now the Dodgers are really intolerable to watch. Plain and simple- I bleed HaloRed.

My grandparents have had Angels season seats for close to 20 years now. I go to about 20 games a season and usually sit in the 200s or 500s. I've probably spent around 4 grand driving the 5 getting to the Big A. But Angels baseball is always worth it.

My favorite Angel memory has to be in '99 when Mo Vaughn hit a grand slam vs the Yanks in NY. A bright spot in a bad season for me. My Dad and I were watching and he said he'd run around the neighboorhood in his underwear if he hit one out. He did and he did. Hilarious.

Wasn't going to do this, but what the hell...
I'm 30, lived in Irvine from '81-'85 and officially became a Halofan then.  I grew up in SLC Utah area; was a RHP in college where I majored in baseball (and beer); joined the Peace Corps and worked overseas for 5 years; and I now live in New Orleans and work for a nonprofit agency.

It's rare for me to make a game these days, though I caught a couple this past summer in Anaheim and even one in St. Louis, where I witnessed a 16-4 beatdown of the Cards and was sprinkled with peanut shells tossed by bitter fans.  It appears I'll have to make the drive to Arlington to catch the Angels in 2008, as well as watching on mlbtv.com.

Favorite moments:

  1. My first Angels memory in 1982:  In an effort to beat traffic, my dad rushed us out of Anaheim Stadium in the top of the ninth.  The bottom of the inning featured a game-winning grand slam off the bat of Don Baylor, as heard by me and my family in the parking lot.
  2. WS clincher in 2002: By the reasoning above, I realized that all the Angels needed to win a WS ring was for me to be on the other side of the world.  I watched Game 7 at 6a.m. in Bangladesh and was the happiest man in the country that day (OK, that year).
Interesting fact: I surrendered a pinch-hit base hit to Jeff Weaver in college, and no, he wasn't good with the bat.

I'll weigh in
I'm 37. Grew up in West L.A. My dad was a big Yankees fan and Dodgers hater, and now I'm still a bit of a Dodgers hater and still a bit of a Yankees fan-lite...except when they play the Halos.

Became an Angels fan at six years old, in 1976 or 1977, when I got my first Angels baseball card, which was Andy Hassler. (I didn't know who he was, just liked the team name and the logo and that they were from California.)

Best Angels moment was without a doubt sitting in left field fair territory during Game 2 of the 2002 World Series -- and to be more specific, when Tim Salmon hit his home run late in the game.

Worst Angels moment was watching them lose game 5 of the 1982 ALCS after being up two games while I lay in a hospital bed when I was 12. F'ing weak. I kind of dropped baseball entirely for about 20 years after that.

I now live in Greenwich Village (NYC really is the greatest city in the world!) and listen to or watch or attend every Halos game I can (I even wrote a piece of software to be able to do so on mobile devices years ago -- it no longer works, unforutnately). I haven't actually seen a game at the Big A since 2003 -- Yankee Stadium has sort of become the Angels home stadium for me. I regularly get lots of (usually good-natured) crap when I show up in red.

My 2 Cents
I'm 22. I live in Camarillo. Props to anyone if they know where that is.

Been an Angels fan for 22 years. Best moment was the night we won it all.

Interesting tidbit is that I go to more Dodgers games than Angels games, simply because the Dodgers are only an hour away but the Angels are two hours away. I've only been to three Angels games in my life. One while the stadium was in the process of being renovated with the rock pile in center, the second when Cal Ripken came to Angel Stadium for the last time but he didn't play, and the last time was going to the Angels-Yankees game in 2006 where Napoli hit the game-winning sac fly in the bottom of the 9th. It took me two hours to get out of the parking lot, though.

I guess you can call it four Angels games, though
Because I went to the Angels-Dodgers game last year. The only one the Angels lost, 2-1. That was, um, interesting. It was funny to walk around Dodger Stadium after the game while being heckled because I was dressed in Angels gear. The best part was the guy in front of me (Angels fan) who shut up all the Dodgers fans with one great comment when they were chanting "Angels suck!

He simply yelled out, "How long's it been since you guys won the World Series? Oh, that's right! Longer than us. Keep livin' the dream!"

I was there too!
Lowe vs. Santana, right?

Even though we lost, what a great game! Probably the best experience i've had at Dodger Stadium during a Angel/Dodger game.

I smack talked with the Dodger fans the whole time and no one got belligerent, a major rarity. I ended up making a bunch of new Dodger friends that night, again a major rarity.

The only thing that sucked was that I got a drinking in public ticket for sucking one back in the parking lot. If we live in an America where a person can't suck back a tastey brew in the parking lot of a ballpark, then I'm moving to Canada and becoming a Blue Jays fan.

All in all, a damn fun night though.

LA-Rod?...No Thanks.

No. I do.
Camarillo High defeated El Modena High in the Southern Section State Finals of AAA basketball, in triple overtime, by a single basket. 1971, The LA Sports Arena. I attended EMHS, played bball, but was a freshman at that time and not allowed to play varsity. Lucky for Camarillo. I regularly schooled the varsity 3rd string in practice and was certainly more than 2 points better than the dead meat that EMHS had left on the floor by the 3rd OT.

I have cursed out the window every time I driven past Camarillo ever since. Not like I hold a grudge or anything...

Let's do it.
Andrade13 is 39 years old.
I 've been a fan since 1978-79, the Yes We Can era.

My Dad and Mom always fancied the Big A over Dodger Stadium. I guess it was either the food they liked or the lack of cholos roaming the concourse. We could always count on being given every week four tickets to a game from a buddy of my Dad. We usually sat on the right field level behind the visitors dugout. Section 133??

I don't have season tickets. I usually scrounge tickets from a friend who has season tickets or my buddies that work for AEG at the Big A.

I was born in Torrance, grew up in Hacienda Heights, lived near downtown LA for a few years and have recently moved to the Santa Ana/Tustin area.

Greatest Halo memories include watching them on tv clinch their first AL Wester Division Championship in 79 ( I think I recall Dick Enberg making the call??? )
The passing away of Lyman Bostock.
The 82 series against Milwaukee.
Game 5 of the 1986 ALCS. My entire family was there and I won't ever forgot how in shock I was that we lost the game, and eventually the series.
Beating the Yanks, Twins to get to their first WS in 2002.
The memories of Game 6 of the WS will live with me forever. I still bust out my DVD highlights of that year for kicks.

Yes we can!

--Have sat everywhere. Never had a season ticket. Favourite old trick used to be buy two beers, then walk past the usher and straight down to the field level and sit wherever ... they were too polite to ask me to grab my ticket.
--Best seat ... the two years I spent as a member of staff for the Angels and had a spot in the pressbox and an office in right field.
--Favourite Angels ever: Fregosi, DeCinces, Joyner, Harvey, Percival, Guerrero, Figgins. (Taking a big liking to Torii Hunter now though ...)
--Favourite Angels moment: Erstad drifting to his left, drifting, drifting, he's under it ... !!!!
--Only HH-er I've met in person: The Limey. We got royally shellacked on hard lager a couple times back in October when I was down in London. Top bloke.

Eh, why not!
-24 years young
-Nothing better than TicketExchange... thank you season ticket holders, there are always deals to be found the day of or before a game.  Last year made it to 11 games.
-Whittier, though I'm from a Navy family so I've lived all over.  Can't say I'm half as conservative as the family, though.
-Moved to LA in 2005, my roommate has been an Angels fan his whole life.  My Dad had been a Reds fan so I had grown up rooting for them, then fell out of touch for a while.  Watched the Angels with my roommate for all of two days on TV and was instantly hooked.
-Best memory?  Easy!  Last year my friend from work who happens to be a Red Sox (ugh) fan wanted to go see us whip the Yanks like we always do, so we get last second tickets to see the game.  Just so happened to be GA's 10-RBI beat-down game.  Simply amazing.
-Interesting fact:  I probably boost Rev's sitemeter enough each day from work to make my IT department consider blocking this site.
Get M-Cab, try to save the Howie.

New Blogger...
Another one that needs to oil the wheelchair...

Some of my earliest Angel memories are;

  1. Attending Angel games at Dodger Stadium. My Dad (big time baseball fan)  HATED the O'Malleys/Dodgers , and was happy as hell when the Angels came into existence. After the Angels first year, Wrigley Field (in LA) was condemned, leaving the Angels with no home. So they played for 3 seasons at Dodger Stadium until Anaheim Stadium was built. My Dad was the angry as hell, having to give ANY money to the O'Malleys to see his Angels. So, he decided he would give the least amount of money possible. To do that, we parked outside the entrance to Dodger Stadium (quite a hike). We only sat in the bleachers. And we NEVER purchased concessions. My Dad always asked (demanded?) that my Mom prepare sandwiches and snacks for all 5 kids. It was a pain in the a**, but it kept him (in his mind) from giving any more money to the O'Malley's than he absolutely had to to see his beloved Angels.
  2. Attending spring training games in Palm Springs. There were nobleachers until the late 70's. So, for weekend games (there were too many fans) they opened up the outfield to sit on the outfield grass! I have never seen anything like it before or since. I recall sitting on the outfield grass for a couple of games in consecutive years. Also, there was a promotion where you could watch a game during the day, then tame the tram up Mount San Jacinto. If I remember correctly, you could ride the tram and eat dinner at the restaurant for $5.95/person. Not bad!
My Dad passed on in 1990...I really enjoy these particular memories, and early days of the Angels. Let's hope 2008 is even better than 2007!

Finally got around to posting to this thread...
...now that no one is likely reading it anymore.

Oh, well...

  • Born 10 years after my favorite team.
  • Married with a young son and daughter.
  • First game - 1978 (CAL 16 - CLE 3).
  • First season as a rabid fan - 1982
  • 1986 still hurts but nowhere near as bad as before 10/27/02.
  • Born in Anaheim, raised in Placentia, reside in Rancho Santa Margarita
  • Commodities trader (email me if you want a Brinks truck full of Gold bullion)
  • Favorite player of all time: Douglas Vernon DeCinces (#11 should be retired for Dougie not Fregosi!)
  • Homered off of Brett Tomko at age 11 (East Placentia Little League!)
  • Went to Servite HS in Anaheim (Mike Witt's alma mater).
Interesting Facts:
  • If you look real real close I am in a few crowd shots in the movie THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION II - The Metal Years
  • Blackie Lawless was a bridesmaid in my wedding
  • By sheer coincidence, I am related to every single signer of the Declaration of Independence
No, I am not related to Jessica Alba, her restraining order made sure of that.

I met Doug DeCinces
at a BAT dinner in NY.  I was wearing my Angel hat and coat.  Bob Watson pulled me out of the crowd of Yankee fans, laughed and said "man, you've got balls."  He then brought me over to DD and we sat and talked.  He was very encouraged by Arte's ownership and his commitment to the Angel past.  He also tipped me off that Glaus was working out with him and he looked very strong (of course, he went down on the DL).  Let me take a couple of pictures.  Great guy.

Last, but not least......
My name is Donald, I live in Glassell Park, with a view of Dodger Stadium from the north. I'm a few years older than Stirrups. Born in Lubbock, Texas and an Air Force brat, I grew up in Kansas City and St. Louis. My first ball game was watching the Kansas City A's and later alot of Cardinals games through high school. I always remember Charlie O.Finley, owner of the A's, because he brought us the Beatles to KC.

You are more likely to find me here on HH than at the games because I have the lazy luxury of watching all the games on cable and have fun commenting in the open game threads. I plan to make it to more games next year.

I owned a vintage furniture store for twenty five years, one of the first trendy stores on Melrose Ave. in Hollywood, and am well know for making the 50's Retro Style popular on the west coast in the early eighties and nineties.

My younger brother is a sort of famous rock guitarist. He was the bass player in the SF punk band the Avengers, and guitar player in Chris Isaak and Silvertone. He plays the twangy guitar on their hit song "Wicked Game."

Interesting fact: Rev Halofan and I have a friend in common. Artist and singer, Liz McGrath, better known as Miss Derringer. She is a close family friend of mine. Recently I asked her about this guy Mat Gleason, and she said, "Oh yeah, he's a really good guy!"

What the heck...
K3YEROUT.  Lives north of Seattle, grew up in Orange.  Watch most games on either 61" DLP Extra Innings package, MLB.TV, listen on my cell phone (cool addition this year), or listen via the web.  Usually catch opening week in ANA each year on jihad to Mexico.  Buy whatever I can get on the first day tix go on sale via the internet in March.  258-260 family section bleachers are my usual roost.

Fav memories are ditching school to wait/camp in line around the Big A in 79 for 3 days and 2 nights with friends.

Sitting in the worst seats in the house in LF in the 80's so we could watch the fireworks at DLand at 9pm.  :)

Duhh...2002...flew down for Yanks series and games 1/2 vs Giants...

Timing was everything...son became fan in 02 as they marched to the WS.  Now we share that bond!  Now I have to fly the both of us down to attend!  :)

Stop swinging at balls out of the zone!

Might as well do this too...
I'm 22 years old, and just recently graduated from Stanford with a rather useless degree in Political Science. On a side note, I can't believe there are so many Golden Bears on this board, but I'm more than willing to overlook that mistake if you're a Halos fan! I also went to school with Clutch, and I have to mention that he wanted to dress up as the members of Sgt. Pepper's Hearts Club Band for graduation (we have a thing called Wacky Walk, don't ask). Instead, I decided to wear an Angels hat instead of my cap, and got caught proudly wearing it on the jumbotron. During or time in the Bay Area, Clutch and I also had the bad luck of seeing the Angels play the A's at the Coliseum a few times, most notably that incredibly windy game this past season where flyballs were an adventure and Weaver was cheated with no run support. I was about twenty yards behind Howie Kendrick when Chad Gaudin broke his fingers.

I'm living with my parents now, but I'm also applying to law school which will ensure I won't be a momma's-boy-bum forever, just an ambulance-chasing-attorney-bum. Hopefully I'll be able to go to a school in LA so I can attend Angels games in August and September.

I lived in Monterey Park (before it became really, really Asian) until the third grade, then moved to Laguna Niguel where I've lived ever since. Before the move I had been to a few Dodgers games as a kid, but was never that interested. Like so many people, I too am a 2002 bandwagoner. I never really paid attention to the team until the World Series, and continued to follow the team only casually until 2005. That was an emotionally tough summer for me, so in order to distract myself, I decided to watch a few Angels games on TV. A few games turned into 162, and here I am, rabid and obsessed.

I usually sit either in the family pavilion (yelling at the opposing bullpen is half the fun) or in the season seats of some family friends in section 207. One day I'd love to have season seats  near the Rev in the right field pavilion, which I think has the best view.

I don't really have a favorite Angels moment, since I take every play and every game so personally.

Now I spend a lot of time posting on these boards bitching about people who don't believe in the tenets of sabermetrics--THE PLAYOFFS ARE A CRAPSHOOT!

The Hunt for a Red October ...and please keep telling Clutch to chill!

Did you get the axe?
My son went to Cal and as everyone at Cal hated everyone at Stanford which I cannot fathom I constantly heard some crap about the axe. Do you know what that is? I believe it has something to do with the football rivalry.

Political science is O.K. Have you looked into the field of public policy? Robert Reich teaches at Cal. This field has exceptional opportunities.

Good luck,

The old man with the Ph.D. also in a useless social science still reading endless JSTOR articles.

Angels fan from a distance....
if you count Dallas, Texas being a distance.

*Don not have nor have I ever had season tickets only because my family moved across the country when I was 12.

*I am 40 years old

*I was born in Anaheim and now live in Dallas
*Can't recall the exact moment I became an Angel fan but Nolan Ryan lived across the street from me on Adair when he first got traded to the Angels. Also, my little league coach had season tickets and since I was good friends with his son I was able to go to a lot of games.

*Best moment was sitting in the upper left field deck for Game One of the Angels first World Series appearance. After they clinched I got online and in ten minutes had game tickets and a plane ticket. I didn't care how much it cost...I HAD to be there for the first ever WS game in Angel history!

*Interesting fact: I used to play whiffle ball with Reed and Reese Ryan...sometimes Nolan would throw to us. I also spent the night at his house one time; his wife gave me a kiss on the cheek!

I was born in LA and grew up in Glendale, but now live in Minnesota and married a Minnesota girl who refuses to leave the state so I'm stuck here!

Became an Angel's fan when I was 12.

I personally know a couple of high-level Twins executives and have done business with with them.

Favorite Angel memory was going to Game 2 of the 2002 ALCS in the Metrodome as a guest, but secretly rooting for the Angels!

  • Angels fan since just after my dad Cried after the ALDS in 1981. Really picked up watching games during the 90's while I was in HS. Some of those years were good... some were ummm not.
  • Fondest memory... Triple play at Angels Stadium a few years back. GA to DiSar to Erstad on 7/5/1997 against Seattle... Beating them never seems old to me. And watching the the boys in red win game seven with my dad.

Late to the party
as usual, but here goes;
Count me in the squeaky wheelchair crowd, and I'm not getting any more specific than that, thank you very much.
Angels fans since spring 1998 when on a lark we took in a day game with the Mariners to try to distract our then 7-yr-old son from the Disneyland frenzy.
Sat in LF field level boxes, very comfortable.
Got introduced to the Rally Monkey by some very friendly fans--everyone was much friendlier there than at any Dodger game we'd ever attended--
Convulsed into hysterics by 2 guys behind us continually heckling Seattle LF: "HEY MARTIN! YOU SUCK!!!"--Crude and unimaginitive, but somehow gut-bustingly funny.
Try to get to a couple of games a yr but it's a long haul from Groover Beach--the white trash sister of Pismo Beach, if that places it for ya.
-Favorite moments were probably during a mid-june game a few yrs back at the ravine when the boys in blue were hard-pressed to throw out Angels baserunners on supposedly routine infield grounders. I remember thinking to myself, wow, these guys actually hustle out ground balls unlike most of the MLB primadonnas I'm used to enduring."

What's with everyone being from La Mirada?
Well, let it continue.  That's where I'm from, too.

BC = initials

562 = area code

74 = date of birth

And here people thought I was a computer-generated handle.  Well, the joke's on you.

Greatest Angels memory: being at game seven in 2002.  I was also at game two, but sadly wasn't at game six.

Worst Angels memory: 1986, game five.  Dave Henderson.  To this day whenever my dad and I see or hear about him, we refer to him as "killer".

First Post
This is my first post. I am glad to be on board. My name is Ryan Zuchero, I am 20 years old. I am a huge Angel fan and love the statistics and numbers side of things. I have loved them for about 6 years now. I use to play baseball for Harbor College, I was a pitcher. I ended my career by tearing my rotator cuff and labrum, not fun at all. My greatest Angels moment was sitting next to a Yankee fan in the game 5 clincher in 2002 and watching him bow down and crumble in pain and agony. I have season seats in section 208 Row k seats 10 and 11. If you are interested in them contact me at Angelskid712@sbcglobal.net.
