Twins/Rays Blockbuster and Johan

Looks like this deal is technically not final, but:

Per mlbtraderumors, Twins have dealt Matt Garza, Jason Bartlett, and Eduardo Morlan to the Rays for Delmon Young, Brendon Harris, and Jason Pridie.

This will definitely have some ramifications for Johan Santana, but will probably just mean that the Twins want more MLB-ready pitching.

If they still trade Johan, mlbtraderumors suggests that this makes a deal with the Yanks, Red Sox, Mets, Mariners, and Cubs less likely, while he feels that Angels, Dodgers and Reds still have the pieces the Twins might want.

Twins will probably want 3B/SP

which leads us back to BWood and a Santana/Weaver/Adenhart type guy, but I'm skeptical we're really considering a deal here. But the Twins definitely won't be taking GMJ now.

Still, never know when ninja Reagins will strike.

Three MLB pitchers

We could conceivably trade three of the seven starting pitchers with MLB experience we currently have on thew roster for Santana AND STILL have a 5 man rotation.

Deal is done, according to Rotoworld:

"Twins acquired Rays acquired OF Delmon Young, INF Brendan Harris and OF Jason Pridie from the Rays for RHP Matt Garza, SS Jason Bartlett and RHP Eduardo Morlan.
We liked the deal more a few hours ago, but the Twins are still picking up a 22-year-old bat with Hall of Fame potential. Young was a below average regular as a rookie, but he still smacked a lot of line drives and more home run power is on the way. What remains to be seen is whether he'll learn to do a better job of waiting for his pitch or if he'll continue to do AL pitching staffs favors by reaching for the ball. Odds are that he'll have at least one more year in which he puts up superficially strong Triple Crown numbers without doing a lot to help his team win games."

assuming

delmon(or del mahn as physioc would say) doesnt go nuts in the midwest, something very possible, this was a good deal for minnesota. basically replaces the offensive punch in the outfield they lost in torii.
