Arte on Vlad's Contract Extension

The Angels have just agree to terms with RF Vladimir Guerrero to a 5 year contract extension according to Ken Rosenthal from foxsports.com stay tuned as we gather more information.

Can anybody verify this? I looked through the diaries and hadn't seen this posted yet. What are your thoughts? Anybody got the numbers on his extension?

"Angels owner Arte Moreno, however, plans to extend Guerrero's contract to bring it more in line with Hunter's, sources say. Guerrero will earn $14.5 million next season and the Angels hold a $15 million option on him for 2009. Hunter is earning $18 million per season under his new deal."

simply says that Moreno PLANS on extending Guerrero so that his contract is more in line with Hunter's. But nothing yet.

Egads-

If you are going to make a diary that says Vlad was extended, at least make sure that he was extended.

the articles you just linked...

say the Angels plan to give Vlad an extension where as the poster of this diary said that the angels have come to terms on an extension. Planning to extend Vlad's contract and coming to terms on an extension are two very different things.

However, I kinda enjoyed the fact the Washington Post is reading scareduck. Sorry, Salmmy. :(

We should create a thread entitled HaTR, Halos Trade Rumors. We can update it with links for Angels Hot Stove, especially with the GM meetings approaching.

If I gather the strength or motivation, I'll do it myself. Seems it would be good to consolidate these things, rather than have quadruple posting and harshing on people.

Now I'm confused

I got my information from a myspace bulletin for the group Halos Nation. I simply asked if anybody could verify the information. Instead, everybody was saying that I posted inaccurate information. Does scareduck write for the HalosNation group on myspace?

Its unfortunate an Angels fan can't come here to discuss info without other fans whom Im assuming think they are better talking down to them. So this guy isn't an insider with exact figures on Vlad's extension, give him a break.

Besides... 18 mil for a soon-to-be DH with a swing that could land him on the DL perenially in a year or two? Are you guys turning into the Yankees or what..?

The Angels and Yankees have is they both kick the living shit out of the Mariners on a regular basis.

Nice to see that w/o even playing a game our new GM has ended your season. Regression to mean for the Mariners and an improved Angels squad spells "2008 sucks for Mariner fan."

Also, not sure if anyone caught this or not, but Huddy actually bagged on the Latin untuck during his mlb.com interview regarding O-Cab. Not only do I completely disagree, but I thought this was primarily a Dominican trait having nothing whatsoever to do with Beantown.
