When we talk about signing Alex Rodriguez lots of people start crying about the money we would have to spend in order to sign him (30 Million+ for a Multi Year Contract).
When we talk about trading for Miguel Cabrera lots of people start crying about the prospects we would have to give up in order to sign him (Wood, Adenhart, Figgins, Willits ect.).
So why not fix our problem without doing any of the above. His name is one that at one point was forbidden to speak of. The name is Barry Lamar Bonds. You might not like the guy but if he helps bring another Championship to Anaheim I think we could cut him some slack. He would take a pay cut to play for a team as good as the LA of A and he would not cost us our prospects such as Wood and Adenhart.
Think of this....
This will fill the power void in our lineup and they would not be able to walk Bonds anymore which would cause more HRs for us. Sure we could flip flop him and Guerrero between the 3rd and 4th spot to see which is more productive. This would give us a long look at McPherson and if he doesnt work out GUESS WHAT? We still have Brandon Wood at AAA. If McPherson does "Blow Up" then we could move Brandon Wood back to SS for the 2009 season.
By 2009 Morales/Kotchman/Kendrick/McPherson will have developed their POWER/Confidence at the Major League Level so one of them would back up Guerrero and Bonds can retire with a CHAMPIONSHIP RING on his finger.
Kendry Morales started the DWL going 1-12 .083 (3 Games) but in the last 7 games he has gone 10-27 with a .370 AVG and 5 RBIs.
