Big Joe McDonnell got the scoop on AM 570 and his video-blog captures Angels manager Mike Scioscia telling us the awful truth: all that money into one offensive player prohibits the maintenance of a quality pitching staff over the course of a few seasons.
In these three videos available at the above link, Scioscia recounts the failures of Texas and New York not as a failure of A-Rod being a "Winner" or not, but of A-Rod's teams not having the financial flexibility to weather inevitable pitching injuries and inconsistencies.
Props to Halos Heaven poster G Abbes for finding this Rosetta Stone of Hot Stove League information.
