Reagins: We are NOT pursuing Johan Santana

From Rotoworld:

Angels GM Tony Reagins acknowledged speaking to the Twins on Monday night, but he said it was about an outfielder and no further talks were scheduled.

The Twins might have been asking about Juan Rivera or Reggie Willits. "We haven't had any discussions about adding starting pitching," Reagins said Tuesday. "The rumors are out there, I know that, but it's rumor. I've been watching ESPN, seeing things that are being reported, and you just wonder where it comes from sometimes." ESPN is still guessing that the Angels will be involved with Santana after losing out on Miguel Cabrera, but neither the Angels nor Twins have done anything to back it up.

Other deals brewing?
Reagins did say, however, that "some interesting and exciting things have surfaced" in the last 24 hours, "things with new teams that I didn't expect to come up. We have strengths in certain areas, and other organizations see that."

Sigh
Just get Santana...

Santana
Lackey
Escobar
Weaver
Garland

With Santana in the pen.

Trade Adenhart, Saunders, Wood and Willits for Santana.

Our rotation would be the best in Baseball, and we'll have a good offense.

We could still look for improvements, but our pitching would be absolutely devastating.

Let's hope this is just Reagins trying to stay under the radar...

if we didn't already sign hunter and
clog up the outfield, i would've suspected jason bay as a target. this glut isn't really working toward our advantage right now.
"it's mind-bottling."

Was thinking the same thing
better than Hunter and he's "buy low" right now.

NEED SANTANA AHORITA!!!!!
Let me ask you.......with an "All World" lineup, fetaturing none other than; A-Rod, Jeter, Abreu, Matsui, Posada, on and on.....How many world championships have the Yankmee's won in the last 7 years???? Answer: Goose Egg. That's because we all know that PITCHING wins the playoffs, end of story. Don't beleive me? Without going back 100 years to prove my point, just take a look at the last 3-4 as a good microcosim. Boston 07'. Beckett, Schilling, Dice-K and then add a lock down bul-pen. I don't care who they played that team had an advantage and ended up winning. Now your gonna add Santana to that staff? Gimmie a break and Fuhgetaboutit. how about St Louis in 06'. Thier staff got hot throughout the end of the year and the playoffs while the Tigers who relied on pitching to get them there saw thier young staff uncharacteristically fall apart and lose the series not on hitting but pitching. Or my personal favorite, how about them Chicago White Sox. in 05'. Tell me they had power in there lineup and I will know your a mouth breather! Crede, Dye, whatever....there hitting was meager. However, thier pitching was unreal. They absolutley asualted other teams with there pitching, complete games and all.

I love Mig Cab, but the Halo's don't need him. They need someone to compete with Beckett in a 5 game series. They need a sure fire ACE, so Lackey, Myspacecobar and Dream Weaver can mow down everyother staff's #'s 2-3 and 4. You heard it hear first, Boston adds Johan to that allready smoking staff and we'll all be playing for 2nd place for years to come.

Love my Angels........now go get Santana.
