Who's available?
Okay, we all know the free agent market is pretty barren, but here it is. I'm assuming if a deal is made, it will be to either fill SS or 3B and let Figgins fill the other. Do you see anyone on this list who would actually be helpful?
Batista, Tony 3B
Bellhorn, Mark 3B
Branyan, Russell 3B
Cirillo, Jeff 3B
Feliz, Pedro 3B
Kata, Matt 3B
Koskie, Corey 3B
Lamb, Mike 3B
Mabry, John 3B
Clayton, Royce SS
Eckstein, David SS
Gomez, Chris SS
Nunez, Abraham SS
Perez, Neifi SS
Ransom, Cody SS
Woodward, Chris SS
Sentament makes me want Eck, buti f I had to choose, it would be Pedro Feliz. He hits pretty well with RISP, he's got some pop, he plays a solid third and I'm thinking he would be relatively cheap

Pedro
I think that if B-Wood played a full season he would definitely put up better stats than Pedro. They both strikeout a ton, but Woody would certainly be able to top Pedro's .288 career on base.
.288 CAREER OBP!
Definitely the last thing the Angels need. Any worthwhile offensive acquisition is coming from a trade involving us giving up prospects. That's just the way it is and we need to start embracing that notion as the only feasible solution to our power drought.

YES
Punt
Train to the WS left the station already and the Angel brass got on the wrong one (Hunter). Just hope we are not stuck eating Macho Burritos while others are eating filet mignon. Nothing would make me feel better then to be wrong, but the left side of the INF is scary. I would put Wood in the lineup someplace and suck it up. If the team is going to pass on someone the caliber of MCab then they better stick it out and go with Wood in hopes that he can get it done.
Chone
we already added a player to our lineup at the expense of a juan rivera/reggie willits. I dont see us adding another player unless its a significant upgrade. None of the 'available' guys are worth the salary/prospect costs.
like someone else said, id rather sit through some wood/mcpherson growing pains than have to watch scott rolen or pedro feliz or joe crede disappoint at a much higher cost
3B
MCPHERSON
WOOD
IZTURIS
AYBAR
QUINLAN
all better options that that list of who is out there AS WELL AS Rolen and INGE
Apologies
Though not entirely fresh, it's still certifiably post-Winter Meetings...
A Reagins Riddle
pe.com

General Manager Tony Reagins hinted that groundwork had been laid for acquiring some more offense. He said he has begun discussions regarding at least one free agent and conceded it could be related to filling a hole should a trade occur.
"I don't know if it (the trade) will get done or not, but things came to light that I think will help us in the future," Reagins said. "It's at the very infancy stages.
"Some things take time. Things don't happen overnight."
