MLB.TV
Has anyone had any success with purchasing MLB.TV, and then being able to view Angels games while in Southern California?  Initially I had thought the selection of games you received was based upon the zip code in your profile, but found last season that was not the case.

Figured it might be the billing credit card's zip, but was told by MLB that it's supposedly based upon your IP address.  Any success stories out there?

Oh yeah, Mike Bovee's baseball-reference page is available for sponsorship...

It can't possibly be based on the IP address
My address is in San Francisco, which is clearly out of market. But when I tried to watch games last year I kept getting the "you are not out of market" message.

Something's weird.

I was kinda
getting the feeling this guy was giving be a line -- so as to discourage using different billing address tactics.

I think I'm gonna get a buddy out of state to purchase this, then Paypal them back.  Looking at this map, someone from Montana or Hawaii should make a good candidate.

Actually,
someone out of country (not including Japan) would be even better. If you could swing that, you could get the post season games as well.

Yeah, the strange thing is
I believe that's the way it's "supposed" to work.  You're an Angels fan and you're traveling or going to school out of market -- you should get those games you're missing.

And it also defeated the purpose as -- let me guess -- you could get Oakland and San Francisco games on MLB, thus bypassing local broadcasting's advertising dollars?

Right, it's weird
I could actually get SOME of the games, but especially once we got into August and September it started blocking me more regularly. Weird. This time around I'm sharing the payment w/ my brother in Boston (an in NC later in the season), so hopefully that'll work (not a huge fan of games at Fenway, so not missing much there, I suppose).
Anyone know if two people can be signed into an account at the same time?

I've had
it on multiple computers at the same time. With the new mosaic, you probably don't need that though.

I had the same thing....
I would sign in and get blocked several times, but otehr times I would be able to see the game.  Another thing I found was that if you kept trying to sign in, eventually I would not get blocked.  This didn't work all the time, but usually about 90% of the time it did.

Sex Panther
Brian Fantana: No, she gets a special cologne... It's called Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries... Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good.
Ron Burgundy: It's quite pungent.
Brian Fantana: Oh yeah.
Ron Burgundy: It's a formidable scent... It stings the nostrils. In a good way.
Brian Fantana: Yep.
Ron Burgundy: Brian, I'm gonna be honest with you, that smells like pure gasoline.
Brian Fantana: They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time, it works every time.
[cheesy grin]
No offense? Howie, Kotch and Napoli will change your mind.

Just clarifying
So you had a So Cal MLB profile address, purchased using a credit card with So Cal billing address, and accessed MLB.TV Angels games while in So Cal with a 90% success rate?

I actually purchased this last year, found out Angels games were blocked (even after changing my profile address to out of state), and then cancelled the next day -- coincidentally it took MLB four months to "remember" to credit my card back.

Yup
That's right, but I had to sign in several times to do so.  Usually I would get it in the first 10 attempts.  But I'm not sure that an address in the 951 qualifies as SoCal.

Speaking of which...

Rev, I’m going crazy wondering if Bovee will be the #1 all time Angel on the left sidebar.
