Aaahh, the beautiful game...
Rev, are you referring to Pelosi's plan for Mexico that every time that they play in the United States they get a goal for free?

Dear Landon Donavon... remember the World Cup?

How old is Blanco?

Hey Mexico, show some class and exchange handshakes and jersey's.

don't make me get all Tower of Power, donny
that match was awesome! the last 30 minutes were completely enthralling. the mexicans were charging it hard, and team usa was flailing around to parry each attack.

mexico was totally classless (again) when they refused to shake hands or exchange jerseys. worse than that, though, was that punk goalie who tried to spear that usa player after goal #2. what a bunch of fuckin' babies.

Soccer is about as relevant
as Landis Flloyd saying he won't compete in France.

Where do people follow Soccer?  Euronet.com?

But that's what's so funny...
A team from a country where only a small percentage of people give a shit about soccer consistently clobbers a team from a country where everybody loves soccer.

The ironing is delicious.

excellent
my shirts are very wrinkly. when can i bring them over?

you're right. mexico fans are going to take this loss very very hard. but they really shouldn't -- mexico played well. but the bottom line is scoreboard, and mexico hasn't found a way to score in the U.S. for quite a while now.

Viva Mexico
Thats what made the match worth watching. I love how Mexico is so passionate about soccar but they SUCK so bad. I freakin HATE Jered Borgeti(the guy that always has the ball with noone in front of him and always finds a way of F#$%ing up the play). Overal good game (Mexico Attacking everysecond and never scored)and (USA laid back and scored 2). Oh and i wouldnt trade jerseys either why the hell would i want a sweaty shirt form some guy. Maybe if it was co-ed I would trade a chick if she didnt smell.

When has the Mexican national team ever shown class?  They've always been a bunch of bitches.

Cricket: The Other White Meat?
There's a bunch of great shots of the ICC World Cricket League finals on Yahspooge right now.  Seems like Rev. could make a nice caption for this.  And check this hot potato!

And then why isn't Eddie Bane scouting this chap?  Or Stoneman talking with this bloke's agent?

Whatever
It is not a matter of national pride.  No one cares.  Instead of marching out the last guy selected in each of the professional drafts as Mr. Irrelevant they should just run out the US National Soccer Team.

You could just be cool...
Last night was certainly not a friendly...

As shown by the bullshit goalie Sanchez whom tried to spear one of our forwards after the 2nd goal was scored.

When was the last time Mexico scored a goal on the US on our soil?

Lastly, you don't have to like the sport but at least respect the athletes and whom they represent.

So you're a bandwagon USA fan?
Do you only support your country when it's a sport you like?

These world class athletes represent and bleed red, white, and blue. Whether you like it or not, they also represent you and me. When any American athlete competes in international competition the stakes are at their highest.

Watch one second of a World Cup Final, Qualifier, or International Friendly and you'll know the difference.

Well
Me saying this thread is an example of the baseball season needing to start does not disrespect them. Not choosing to follow them or really caring about the match is not a slight.

Sure I hope they do well, but I will not follow them.  Hell I hope our curling team fares well in the next winter olypics but I will not follow them either.

The point is I do not care about soccer regardless of who is playing.

I have seen the World Cup, International "Friendlies" and qualifiers.  The end result was me sleeping.

Furthermore this is like writing about the profound impact of a Royals/Devil Rays game both teams suck.

No one cares

You know how I know you're lying?  You've now written seven posts telling us how much you don't care about something.  If you truly didn't care, you wouldn't have so much noise about not caring.

You know what most people do when they see a thread about something they don't care about?  They click on another thread and ignore the one they don't care about.  They don't write out seven posts telling everyone how little they care about that particular thread.

every red neck I 've talked to...
hates baseball, but maybe I'm talking to the wrong red necks.

Interestingly, every punk rock fan I know that admits to watching at least one American sport always seems to choose baseball; despite the cliché that punkers and organized sports are seen as polar opposites.  Any theories on this? Rev, I'm looking at you...

by Hutch (someone took my name) on Feb 8, 2007 7:37 PM PST up reply actions

I can't
speak for the rev, or darby, but I will say that baseball unlike any other sport is a thinking man's game. There is a unique mixture of intellect and athleticism. Knowing the perfect time for the suicide squeeze, trying to guess when the pitcher is going to bring the heat, getting to the opposing team's pen early in the first game to tire them out for the series. These are just a few examples of the intricacies of baseball that may be beyond the average redneck's capacity to process. Most punks I've known are who they choose to be because they are smart enough to not be mainstream. This intellect may be what draws them to baseball.

If this game were in Mexico
the urine/feces bombs would've rained down upon our players, a few US flags would've been burned or stomped on, and the anthem would've been mercilessly booed.

Oh I'm sorry, that's Dodger Stadium

by PieceOfAase on Feb 8, 2007 3:56 PM PST reply actions

For all
intents and purposes it was in mexico. The pro mexico crowd (by accounts) made up over 55k of the 62k in attendance. As for feces/urine bombs; perhaps you didn't see Landon being pelted on corner kicks with cups of golden liquid... beer, yeah right. Tim Howard also landed on a nail in pregames. I'm sure that was an accident too. I love mexico, I think it's a great place, but mexico soccer is a bunch of whiny a-holes.

I'm sorry that it's the most important sport in your country and you suck, but that's not our fault. It is ironic though!

We may suck at soccer but we beat the USA team in the World Baseball Classic and it was AWSOME(Because the US had all the MLB players and all we had was Jorge Cantu(Mexican A-Rod but doesnt suck as much as A-Rod)). Oh and by the way that game ELIMINATED the US from the World Baseball Classic.
