Foul Balls and Homers

I've been on HH for a year now and can't recall seeing this particular topic.

Post your foul ball/homer catches. Include where you were sitting and whose bat from whence it came (if possible).

Personally I've been attending games since the late 70's and have caught exactly ONE foul ball. But it was worth the wait:

Year: 1995
Location: Lower View, in line with 3rd base.
Batter: KINGFISH

The ball bounced off my hands and rolled down my back onto my seat when I promptly sat on it. MINE!

At Wrigley Field
The only foul ball I've ever caught, and actually it was Helen who caught it. The night was stormy, with fitful knots of clouds threatening throughout the game.  Rain, misting at first, later gathered strength so that in the ninth, the infield was soup.  We sat under the deck some ways back from the action on the third base side, still behind the screen.

It was about the seventh, and Neifi Perez was at bat.  He fouled a pitch off that popped into the seats ahead of us, which prompted a diving clutch of the remaining fans five or so rows ahead of us to all scramble for the ball.  But it still had some momentum, and Helen felt something bump against her foot.

It was the ball.

Fire Mickey Hatcher. An entire generation of Angels offense depends upon it.

Helen DESERVES that ball!!
though your story should have started this way:

"It was a dark and stormy night;  the rain fell in torrents--except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness."

Man...you had me all geared up...
...for a murder mystery only to find out it was your foul ball story, or rather "Helen's" foul ball story.

Nice copy though.

In Florida
I was sitting between home plate and first base, on field level, and a pop-up was hit towards me.  Right as I was about to catch it, a guy behind me shoved me in the back, and it tipped off my glove and landed right behind me.  My uncle turned around real  fast, and snatched it right off the ground a quarter second before the asshole who shoved me got it.  He gave it to me, and it was the ball I got signed about a thousand times at spring training this year, 5 years later.

Oh, and there were about 6 people at the game that day (probably were more people at the Angels' spring training game where I got all the autographs), so I actually went to the game KNOWING I would get it.  I believe it was either Mike Lowell, Derrek Lee, or Cliff Floyd who hit it...somewhere in the middle of the lineup.

No longer a single digit midget!
I have gone home with ten foul balls lifetime.  Two of them were caught on the fly.  Marlon Anderson's was noteworthy because it came in the 18 September 2006 game in which Marlon hit the fourth of the back-to-back-to-back-to-back 9th inning home runs.  After the game the Hall of Fame called and requested Anderson's bat.  The foul ball came during Anderson's first at bat.

Damn!

2004 was a nice year for you. Were these all at Anaheim/Dodger stadiums???

Oh and what's with the 19 year drought? Slacker.

Dodger Stadium 6, Big A 4
Yes, these foul ball salvage operations (saving fish from drowning, saving balls from death in batting practice) all occurred at either Anaheim Stadium or Dodger Stadium.  There were eleven seasons (82, 83, 86, 87, 90, 93, 94, 95, 96, 98, and 00) that I was shutout and did not see a single baseball game.  There are other things to do in this lifetime in September besides going to baseball and college football games.  The grass is greener on the other side of the hill.  Check out Kulu-Manali in India during harvest time.  Apples there are every bit as good as those from Washington, Maine, or New Zealand.

I caught a foul ball off of Jeff Mathis'
bat last year in AAA.  After the game I got it signed by Mathis and Tommy Murphy.

I also caught a broken drumstick thrown into the crowd by John Wilson of the Supertones.
