trade

ok what about trading fatolo and figgins for arod? we need a 3rd baseman.  figgins cant play the pos. he is more of a utility player.  we can make iztures our new utility player. as for getting rid of fatolo, we are 8 deep in our starting pitcher rotation.  the only stickler is will they let arod go for fatolo and figgins?

i'd make that trade in a heartbeat...
but the yankees would be retarded to trade a future hall of famer and the best player in baseball (so far, this year) for a fat, banged-up pitcher, and a utility player.

Retarded is offensive to retarded people.
you'd have to be dumber than that to make that trade.  I think Weaver and Rotundo and Figgins might be a possibility.  The ante just went up to two front-liners with Vladdy going out today (probably not for long) as it is well-documented that the Angels are lacking a bat...

How much do you weigh?
You shouldn't call people fat if you are an XL or above.

No way do the Yankees dump A-Rod now.

After a few more of today's Rivera meltdown they will only trade for Frankie with us...

Or
possibly Shields, who could close for about 25 teams.

I know starting quality pitchers are gold dust, but which of our extra arms could be converted to a full time bullpen role, with the bonus of being available for spot starts?

Nope
Not happening. I thought there was a good chance of Weaver/Mosley/Molina for A-Rod going down, but with the way A-Rod's been playing, he'll be in NYC for the long, long-term.

i dont think hes there after this season
i think he'll be there all season, have his best year and then leave. Sorry yanks.

if he doesnt get traded he is done after...
after this season. so if you were the yanks wouldnt you want to get something instead of nothing.  they need speed on the base paths and they have a history of taking aging pitching and doing wonders with it.  so why wouldnt they do this deal again.  if need be throw some cash their way.

either way sone(d)man should do something with the 8 quality pitchers we have.

Frankie is not getting dealt
No offense? Howie, Kotch and Napoli will change your mind. Hell why not just let Aybar try to steal?

i thought i heard something
about how sheilds wanted to be the closer and that would be the only way he signed with a team is if they promised him a closer role.  so if this being the case and given that we havent inked frankie to a new deal we could use him as trade bait.  i would hate to see frankie leave!

by wallispdub1 on Apr 15, 2007 7:38 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Nope
No way they trade Shields a mere three weeks after extending his contract by four years.

by Clutch on Apr 15, 2007 8:36 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

To clarify
Before the extension, as especially after this week, I would've said go for it and trade Shields--if it meant someone of A-Rod's caliber--but it doesn't make sense to sign someone to a lucrative extension and immediately try to trade them. My guess at this point is that the Yankees would ask for some combination of Santana/Frankie/Wood and maybe Weaver if he comes back strong.

by Clutch on Apr 15, 2007 8:38 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

He said trade Frankie
not Shields.  I don't think we should trade either right now.  Let's start with the fact that we have more starting pitchers (7) than we do hitters (1).

Hmmm...
"the only stickler is will they let arod go for fatolo and figgins?"

This is a kinda' big "stickler" isn't it? I guess we could always just hope that Cashman goes completely brain dead. Maybe they'll throw in Jeter too.

by 10 27 02 on Apr 15, 2007 7:46 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

umm
id say its not as big of a stickler as you think. they need speed on the bases, figgins. and they like older pitchers that are proven, fatolo. and we could even throw in some cash to sweetin up the pot.

or

we could use fatolo and figgins in a deal for someone else.  i think our problem is no one backing vlad, and 3rd base!  any probable solutions?

Shields
After this week, I'd finally give in and let them have Shields too.

by anaheimisnotla on Apr 15, 2007 8:31 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Colon, Shields, and Figgins?
That probably would get a deal done, but is it worth it?  I don't know.  That's giving up a lot for someone who we would have to extend long-term (and deal with Satan to do it).

by DChalofan on Apr 16, 2007 6:24 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I would do it in a heartbeat!!!!!!
Vlad is now hurt......we have no offense what so ever in the last couple of games.

Get a big bat in there now!!!!!!!

hint(Kendry Morales as DH instead of Hill would help)

Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It makes no sense for the Yanks to trade ARod.
He's gonna have a monster year. He's too great a player for them to trade away. The whole thing is a media creation, they have to have a story to write about, so they pick ARod.

ARod's gonna be fine. When he hits 50 HR's this year and drives in 130, the stories about him getting traded will disappear, until the offseason, when he'll have to perform well to make the stories go away permanently.

Forget the opt out clause. Let me ask you a question: if he wants to use the opt out clause to renegotiate a contract what team has more money to negotiate then the Yankees? Nobody, that's who.

ARod's not going anywhere.

by goodvibe61 on Apr 16, 2007 9:28 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

While
I don't typically put much stock in what a GM says publicly, Cashman has gone on record stating that the Yankees will not renegotiate the ARod contract. In this instance, I actually believe him. He's the one running the show now, and the philosophy has shifted from huge dollars for megastars to stockpiling the farm. If, and by saying if I mean when, ARod opts out; he will sign a Soriano-esque contract with LA, LA, or the Cubs (if the new ownership group sports long pockets, and a desire to win over the fanbase on the North Side.)
Lamest poster of all-time.
