L.A. Angels of Anaheim GAME 15/162 THREAD

End of the Road Trip From Hell GAME THREAD

Angels @ Fremont She-Wolffs of Choakland - 12:35 in the afternoon
John "Thunder Mountain" LACKEY Vs. Dan Beard of a Spartan in 300 HAREN

Star-divide

O/P/D/Izturis - Lackey - 0

Song Lyrics
Let it be
Let it be
Let it be
Let it be
Cut Shea Hillenbrand
Let it be

I am speaking at the L.A. County Museum of Art at some $200 per-ticket art shindig tonight so I will happily be missing this depressing team and its attempt to win a 2nd game out of the 8 it plays on this miserable, forgettable, re-routed, rain-delayed, unretired 42 cross country windstorm.

The home cookin' better be a pot of Panther stew washed down with a coupla pints of Pride.

Say Shea
Why all the haters on this board for Shea?  Albert Pujols is batting .160, should he be sent to the minors or traded?  I'll tell you all one thing, I'm glad the fans who are all emotionally involved in certain players aren't making the decisions for who actually signs with the team or fills out the line-up card.  If that was so we'd have a completely new Angel team practically every night from what I read on this place.

Rev, did Shea steal your girlfriend in high school because he was a better ballplayer or something?   Jeez, I just don't get you folks who genuflect from game to game.

Here's some news you may have heard but your emotions don't allow you to process:  teams don't go 162-0, nor 142-20, nor 120-42.  Our team will go 90 something and whatever.   They'll have spells where they go 18-8 from monthy to month.  RELAX or go take a valium!

Just don't do it before your LACMA talk.

by SactoFan on Apr 18, 2007 8:07 AM PDT reply actions

Strange Comparison
Are you saying that Shea = Pujols.  Of course you wouldn't send Pujols to the minors, he doesn't suck.

by Erik121 on Apr 18, 2007 8:40 AM PDT up reply actions

let's see here
Pujols, so far:

Avg: .160
HR:   3
RBI:  7
Batting stance: constipated

And Hillenbrand?

Avg.: .156
HR:   0
RBI:  1
Batting stance: not working

The difference here is that Pujols is at least driving in runs while hitting like my grandma.

by Carl Johnson on Apr 18, 2007 9:56 AM PDT up reply actions

Uhh...
Horrible comparison.

Hillenbrand is Steve Finley, not Albert Pujols.

by WiseAndEck on Apr 18, 2007 9:58 AM PDT up reply actions

the point is...
still too early.  it wasn't meant as a straight up comparison of Hillenbrand v. Pujols.  Jeez, no one is driving in runs for the Angels lately.

Hillenbrand is a career .285 hitter and avgs. 19 HR's a year.  he was specifically brought in to replace Juan Rivera until the latter gets back.

If you guys can remember beyond yesterday, Rivera is a notorious sloowwwwwwww starter and could just as easily be sucking right now.  My point is you guys need patience.  If it was Rivera in the DH spot would you be crying the same?  My guess is, yes.  Let's dump him for the hot hitter this week.  Leave that to your fantasy league, this is the real deal!

For those of you scoring at home, that is 4 left on base for Anderson.

Just Another....
Shit Inning.

I say Rex and Phis get the Toilet Flushing sound cart ready and after every inning the Angels fail to drive in a run they play it before the go to commercial break.

Suck Ass
Right Now the ANGELS ARE A BUNCH OF PUNKS.

Let me put in my 4 year old son, he'll drive in a run or two.

WE SUCK!

took out the lead runner...
c'mon GA.  We see that you are not swinging at strike 3 in the dirt anymore (is that study still on-going?), however, you have a knack of not hitting the ball out of the infield here in Oakland today.  Hit it OUT!!!!

The "contact play"
erases the bunt single.  Great offensive strategy, Mike.

Call up Terry Evans.  Call up Brandon Wood.  Call up somebody.

Fire Mickey Hatcher. An entire generation of Angels offense depends upon it.

No point in listening to the rest of this game
... and I'm not feeling too good about the weekend series until Vladdy's feeling better.

Ouch. Never, never give up on a game...
there are 27 outs in a game.  There is no traffic to beat today, so why are you leaving early?

Call up Salt Lake, manager and all, let them play a game.

I'd like a shot at pitching against the Angels
I'd take a 10-start contract for the amazingly low price of $10k per start.  I am sure I'd get most of them out, and I have never attempted to pitch in my life.  I am sure I'd get Hillenbrand out.

Don't go w/out a scouting report
I think it is in all the other bullpens as well.
DON'T THROW THEM A STRIKE - they'll swing regardless

Hey, on the positives...
Hardened Dick has thrown 109 pitches.  We are into bullpen time for the Oakland A's.  Time to start the rally!  Bring on Doucher-erer.

Moreno
Arte needs to get his ass into the clubhouse with Stoneman, Soxh, and the "players" and start yelling. I'm not sure if it would fix anything, but it would make me happy.

Art, not Arte
The night after your artsy number, I'll be speaking at a $0 per ticket Fullerton Library gala to pump my Angel book. Any upbeat suggestions amid this downtime to lift up the audience?

Well...
Maybe we'll get it all out in April and go on a 75 game win streak in the summer.

Sadly, I just caught a glimpse of what it must be like to be a Royals fan.

I don't like it.

A call-up, a trashing from Sosch, a players only meeting... something.

Monday night.  Didn't work, evidently.

Trade Aybar
Angels record moves to 0-7 in games in which Aybar has appeared this year.

I don't like the sound of this:
Just awhile ago, before the game ended, I was listening to the radio broadcast, and they said that Howie's wrist and hand were swollen to the point that they sent him home early for x-rays.

Why they couldn't have already had x-rays taken I don't know. But if it's swollen up on him like they say, I'm gonna start crossing my fingers, because the last thing we need right now is for that guy to go on the DL with a broken bone. He's the only support Vlad's got right now.

Erick Aybar looks extremely uncomfortable out there. Every time I see him I cringe, as he appears to be out of his depth. I hope he shows signs of breaking out of this soon, he's supposed to be a top prospect.

Big John wasn't all that great today, but still, 3 runs through 6 innings should not be the end of the world or anything. He battled, and ended up throwing 100 plus pitches, and I admire his tenacity and will to win. He and Jared are tremendous competitors. I'm so happy that both of those guys are on our team.

That's the bright side I'm taking with me from today's game. Both Lackey today and Weaver last night gutted it out and showed how badly they want to succeed.

I agree with Rev: we gotta bring up Kendry. I feel the mono/dippydoodleitis thing catching up to Kotchman again. I swear the guy is 0 for a road trip or something. He and Hillenbrand....god help us.

no team chemistry
no leaders, no unity. hell, half the players dont even speak the same language.
