Who should replace Howie?
Howie Kendrick is out for at least 4-6 weeks. Obviously nobody is going to "replace" his .327 BA, but we need somebody to cover while he's out.
Aybar is on the current roster and started at 2B yesterday, and Izturis could move there from 3B, opening that spot for Rob Quinlan or a call-up. This shuffle could also result in a 3rd base/DH platoon in the coming month or more. If ONE young player is called from AAA in this interum, who should it be?
What would your lineup look like?

Pull this off
Figgins/Aybar for Crede, Izzy to 2B. Crede's also having a slow start and I think would just be a rental (for now), but over the long term (i.e., the season) he's pretty much a lock to do better (in terms of OPS) than Figgy or Izzy will.
Yeah man...
Are you a Chiropractor or something?
Ehm
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but Crede had his back fixed through surgery during the off-season. Shouldn't be a problem--especially considering that he did incredibly well last season even WITH the bad back.
Crede went the rehab route
It's not like he's Mike Schmidt.
Wood

Just bring up Wood
Stop letting him rot in the minors.
Bring up Kendry Morales to DH
This would be our Lineup......
SS Cabrera
3B Wood
DH Morales
LF Anderson
1B Kotchman
RF Willits
C Napoli
2B Izturis
This lineup would kick ass and all it takes is sending Murphy who doesnt play back down because there is already one open spot with Kendrick out.
Please remove rose colored glasses
If you really think B-Wood and Morales will thrive in the 3 and 4 holes at this stage of their careers, you are mainlining your own Kool-Aid.
Jim Jones has nothing on you.
Agreed
Happy 420 everyone!
please observe the holiday and hold a rally for the hitters
Wood AND Kendry
Then move D-Mac to the 60-day DL to make room for Wood on the 40-man roster. He starts at 3B, and Izturis moves to 2B. I'd much rather give him the AB's than waste them on a career utility player. I mean, if we're going to have a black hole in the lineup, it may as well be used to give Wood some ML experience.
If Wood is contributing when Figgins returns, trade Figgins. If not, send him back down a la Kendry Morales to apply the lessons that he's learned from the bigs.
Thats what i just said look at my lineup....
You're lineup doesn't even have Vlad
While I'm definitively against posting lineups all the time, this thread asked for it.
CF - Matthews
1B - Kotchman
RF - Vlad
DH - Morales
LF - Anderson
SS - Cabrera
3B - Wood
C - Napoli
2B - Izturis
I don't think the team can afford to move Vlad down in the lineup, costing him several AB's a week.
Perfect..........switch Cabrera and Kotchman
My thinking:
I'm thinking bring up Kendry for the DH spot. I wouldn't mind seeing Wood get an little audition at 3B in this time, but he'll probably not keep his strikeouts down without a bit more work in AAA and he's still acclimating to life at 3rd, so I don't see him as a long-term option once Howie's back.
How about:
CF Matthews
SS Cabrera
1B Kotchman
RF Guerrero
LF Anderson
DH Morales
2B Aybar
C Napoli
3B Izturis
...for now. Then:
CF Matthews
2B Kendrick
SS Cabrera
RF Guerrero
LF Anderson
1B Kotchman
C Napoli
DH Morales
3B Izturis
I really think there's a good flow to this lineup, assuming Kendry's finally ready to sustain some production at the big league level.
The most important thing is that Shea Hillenbrand not get any more ABs!
Brandon Wood
Terry Evans
According to Stephen Smith
Yeah the sucks
Lineup
SS Cabrerra .349 obp
C Mathis .346 obp, 2SB @ SLC & batting 2nd
RF Vlad .442 obp (assumes Vlad back Fri/Sat)
LF GA
3B Wood
1b CKotch
DH Hillenbrand/Morales platoon
CF Evans .375avg, .404obp, 3 HR, 4 SB,
2b Iztu .346obp
Remember a few years ago when Beane sent about 5 guys to the Minors early and brought guys up? Wake up call time!
Napoli needs to go to SLC & figure it out both offensively/defensively
I don't have time for Matthews. Occasional spectacular plays are nice, but I prefer the routine outs be made every time.
GA either starts hitting in the next couple weeks or he will find some pine time too.
With the exception of CK, this lineup can drive the gaps AND run! If this is too much/too soon for Wood I seem to remember some guy named Q who routinely hits in the .300's every year who can play a reasonable 3b.
I remember Beane shaking up the roster

I agreed with you until last season
It is early now, but not too early to make a couple of those moves. Napoli is clueless right now and Mathis is doing well in the 2 hole at SLC. Let Naps go get his confidence back.
I would have opted for Wood instead of Morales today as Wood is absolutely "en fuego!" I am a firm believer in riding that hot bat! Especially since we don't seem to have any.
We get in these funks where we swing at crap. Take strikes and swing at garbage. I have to turn the tv/computer off cuz I cannot watch that!
