Angels Game 1/162 GAME THREAD
I cannot wait any longer. Here is the...
GAME THREAD
Rangers @ Angels - 7:05 p.m.
Kevin Millwood vs. John Lackey
TV: FSW and ESPN2 - Radio: 710 AM
Righthander Millwood has a 3.00 ERA against the Angels, while Big John has been battered a bit by the former Showalter Crew. The Rangers have Sammy Sosa with them, but he might not start.
Did you know the Rangers were owned by ClearChannel? One more reason to dig Arte Moreno: for who he is NOT.
Only four Angels in tonight's game started last season's opener. Can you name them?
My O.P.D.:
Cabrera / Lackey / 1
What is O.P.D.?
Put your OPD picks in the Comments section...
Random Song Lyrics:
I came into this world like a puzzled panther
waiting to be caged
but something stood in the way
I was never quite tamed
Why does each Game Thread have Random Song Lyrics?
Here is my 2007 Angels Preview and a podcast where I discuss the team's coming awesomeness.
PLAY BALL!

Selling tonight...
O: Matthews
P: Lackey
D: 1
My guesstimated sales: $923
Tips: $22
And while I'm on the subject...
Can I just say:
- That more than any other team (and hopefully for this year only, because I'd rather hate the A's), I'd really like to see Texas beaten, humbled, humiliated and sent back to Texas crying as often as possible this year. Aside from the obvious pleasure of seeing the Angels come out triumphant and mighty, I very much need their owner Hicks to disown this team out of pure shame in their ineptitude, so that he can invest his hard earnt dollars in my other favourite Reds - Liverpool football club, which he also has a stake in. It needs to start tonight, and the Rangers need to receive a proper and regular humping for it to come to pass.
- Bring it on Mr Lackey - remember there's nothing quite as satisfying as giving your home town team a proper kicking.
- Best of luck to one and all.
You'll Never Walk Alone, Limey..
[...so...WTF was up with their start this year?!?]
Same as every year...
To be fair, the schedule in the 1st few weeks was brutal, particularly on the road. The first 6 games on the road were (with current league position) - Sheff utd (17), Everton (7), Chelsea (2), Bolton (6), Man Utd (1), Arsenal (4).
That's 5 of the other top 6 on the road in the first 6 road games of the season.
All coming good now though. The Chapions League is winnable again this year.
Rev...what's your seat numbers?
If I played from day 1 last season...
Cabrera/Lackey/2
And then I guess for my own enjoyment...
Angels: 5 Runs / 7 Hits
Rangers: 1 Run / 6 Hits
Let the Panthers loose!

Bring it!
This takes a whole lot more thinking than last year's runs/hits picks! :-)

Get it done!
OPD
BTW
I never fail to be astounded by the ridiculous lack of coverage for our superior left coast and Mr. Aiello at least seemed sympathetic to our cause but drove the point home with his general obliviousness to our goings on and his reason for knowledge about the team being based on "his enjoyment of watching them" and his experience as a TechSim manager. Nice guy, but ignorant as the next man for whom our games start at 10:05pm.
And it begins...

from day one
one of the two position players that showed up, #35, Casey Kotchman. Casey hit four balls out of the park - ..... His swing looked as sweet as ever. Nobody else came close to hammering the ball like he did ...
this is just the start - the dude will be HUGE!

may this be the template for many games this year
solid starting pitching, hit a bomb, chip away for a few runs, turn the game over to the ridiculous bullpen, and light that mf'ing halo.
