Call Your Shot
On April 3, 2002, I called my shot in Vegas and put $20 down on the Angels to win the Series. Without a doubt, the greatest wager of my life.
There are 161 games left, so NOW is the time to CALL YOUR SHOT. I'm not talking about obvious stuff like Vlad's going to hit 30 HRs blah blah blah. I'm talking about going out on a limb and PREDICTING THE FUTURE, using whatever powers you may have.
Here's my shot:
Chone Figgins will be traded by July 1.
What's yours?

Reggie Willits will be in CF
Also, Huston Street will be photographed on the "other side" of a Castro District gloryhole.
Finally...
Now that they are actually playing
not a huge stretch, but...

Escobar will violate terms of service on Myspace
My Prediction
Why settle for one shot...
- GA will flirt with .400 well into May. People will talk about his renaissance, but only when they bother to mention him at all. He will be drowned out by the offensive duo of Kendrick/Kotchman. K&K will carry the offense well into July and be the talk of AL West baseball up to that point, at which time they will slump and Vlad will take over.
- As evidenced during spring training, the Angels will lead all of major league baseball in triple plays turned this year. And they will be near the top in double plays turned. And they will lead the division in total defense percentage. And we will still complain about them.
- GMJ's ability to outrun his bad reads off the bat and result in leaping snags will make him the most watched Angel on Sportscenter this year. Yep, more than Vlad. He will make a play that will put him up for an ESPY.
- OC will lead the AL in fielding percentage for SS. And have more chances than all others in the AL. And not get the Gold Glove.
- Vlad will have a great stretch run, overshadowing a mediocre April through late July. People will question his health. Then bitch about his free-swinging ways. Then bitch about Sosh's loyalty as Vlad fails to come through repeatedly in clutch situations. Then, come September, all that will be forgotten.
- The Angels will fall behind in each of their three playoff series before sweeping the remaining games and moving on.
- On October 15th, Anaheim will be hosting the victory parade ending at Angels Stadium, after the Halos defeat the Mets 4 games to 2 in the WS. Kotchman will be driving his WS MVP car. The parade will be scheduled to start at 11am, but will not get going until 11:25.
- The celebratory podium will not contain Figgins. Nor Aybar. Nor Saunders. It will contain Hillendbrand. And Todd Helton.
- The party in the parking lot will officially conclude at 2:14pm, but the last stragglers will not leave until 4:06. And that last straggler will be me...
God I hope your right

and take all Cupie's supply?
my shot...
I know, I know, it's a stretch!
s h o t s
The Halos have more All-Stars than usual: Kendrick, Anderson, Vlad, Lackey and Frankie.
Barry Bonds will not break Aaron's record.
Mathis's AAA performance will make Jose Molina expendable by July.
Hillenbrand will be a pleasant surprise, but will still be displaced by Kendry in July or August.
Kelvim finishes the season with more wins than Lackey.

I'm going with...
And I have 100 bucks on the Angels this year. 13 to 1 odds was just too tempting.
word...
GMJ will provide more Angel's highlights on Sportcenter, than any other Angel.
Lackey will win 17 games, and bang 4 Halo Chicks under Big Thunder Mountain... at the same time!
Garrett Anderson will put up career numbers, despite looking incredibly bored doing it.
HK-47 will prove he is the future of this team by hitting large, and providing amazing defense.

Trades
Bill Stoneman will consummate at least two trades during the season. I won't say who gets traded, or what other teams will be involved. I'm just saying there will be at least two different transactions. Lots of ways it could happen, but if it happens at all it will be newsworthy.
Starters Victories
Ervin Santana 18
John Lackey 17
Jered Weaver 14
Kelvim Escobar 13
Joe Saunders 11
Bartolo Colon 4
The bullpen/others will combine for 24 wins for a team total of 101 wins, a new Angels record. Frankie Rodriguez will have 47 saves.

kind of generous there, aren't you?
vlad will throw someone out from the warning track
johnsamo will win the OPD contest.
Big stretch, but could happen:
There will be at least
Bonus: Speier earns mad respect by clocking Kendall, who is the first one out of the dugout, before Big John even gets a chance.
I hate to say it, but.....
Casey Kotchman
He's soon to be recognized as the Angels 2nd most potent offensive force and will rock the AL for the next decade at least..

Trades
The line up continues to do well (Hill does just enough to stay viable) and Figgy becomes the odd man out when he returns from injury - then is traded.
Kotchman
On the non-Angel front, each member of the dodger starting staff (Lowe/Schmidt/Penny/Wolf/Tomko) will spend time on the DL.
Seems pretty unlikely...
