I vote Frankie
They fought a good one but it just wasn't enough.
Steal second
If Figgins was on base and had been thrown out, I would be OK with it, he made a good percentage play and it just didn't work out.
But Aybar? This man should never attempt to steal bases in important situations until he actually learns how to read pitchers and get jumps. He has had horrible SB percentages at every level of the minor leagues. Does he think major league catchers are going to be any worse throwing him out? Kid needs to be put on a leash until Figgy or the OC can teach him how base stealing is done.
that was basically my point
blame.
even good pitchers make mistakes. good hitters take advantage of those mistakes, and that's exactly what happened.

AR AR AR humor
Frankie lite blame (you can't win them all)
In the spring of 2002 I believe there was a Dodger-Met game on television that I focused on one at bat--Mike Piazza vs Kevin Brown in the 6th or 7th inning. Piazza blasted a Brownie pitch for a game-winning home run. Tonight's Piazza vs K-Rod at bat was another Kabuki moment. Kabuki connoisseurs go to the bar in the lobby for drinks. When their favorite part of the play comes up they return to their seats. Angel Hawker mentions the fans who leave like clockwork at 9:30 p.m. Those fans miss a lot of Kabuki moments. It was about 10:00 p.m. when Piazza turned the Angels into pumpkins.
This was the 4th home run I had seen Piazza hit in person. That includes the home run he hit on the left field pavilon roof to the left of the scoreboard in a September 1997 Colorado @ LA Dodgers game. 4/5/2007 was the first time I saw Piazza homer in a game his team won.
Blame
Maicer did not get a guy over in the 7th or eight. Kotch did not have a chance to get home. OC failed to come through in the 8th. Aybar caught stealing. Etc. Etc.
I will say Willits is starting to intrigue me.
I agree
How about shave and haircut for Nick Swisher?

Pantene Beautiful Lengths
But don't start going soft on the guy now. He still likes to stand around ultra-annoyingly with lifted arms at sides, as if his lats, triceps and biceps are so large it prohibits mobility.
I think we all went to school with guys like this. Relax Swish', relax...
Help me understand
Why we sent Aybar, who sucks at stelaing bases when he is healthy (right now he is a bit hindered by his foot)
Scosh....I nominate you!

As does every other manager.
CLEARLY DINO EBEL
Ebel had NO BUSINESS sending Kotchman.
I was in the LF family pavilion, exactly on the line with the throw from Stewart to home plate. That throw was so rainbowed and so off-line. Kendall was about 5 feet away from the plate when he caught it and still had plenty of time to tag Kotchman. If the throw was on-line, sheit, Kendall could have taken a smoke break waiting for Kotchman to arrive at the plate.
That play set the tone for the A's in this game, when it very well could have been a big inning for the Angels.
Frankie makes his mistakes, and if he gives up that 1 HR with a 3 or 2-run lead, we'd be gloating about what a hero he was for saving the game. I do not fault him.
Ebel's miscalculation cost us last night, although we are playing aggresively, so I am sure that Scioscia downplayed that play and Ebel's responsibility.
I'd like to say, dang, how did we let Gaudin (a spot starter) dominate us? That is another blame of the game: Gaudin.
I say Ebel too
OC could get a lot of blame too...
Too Early To Blame Anyone
Did the Angel hitters blow chances to score runners....YES, but the season is only 4 days old!
IF we start seeing these trends then we can start pointing fingers, until then the only finger I am going to point is the middle finger at the Oakland A's of Freemont.
