Our offense compared to others
Just did some research to see how our offense compared to others. You can draw your own conclusions.
8th in runs
4th in hits
13th in HR's
10th in RBI's
13th in BB's
13th in K's (as in, we hardly strike out compared to everybody else.
1st in SB's
9th in OBP
1st in GIDP
So, on paper, the trouble is getting runs in. Getting on base and moving runners along the basepath doesn't seem to be the problem. The problem is with RISP. Figgins, Willits, Kotchman, Napoli, Hillenbrand, Kendrick, Anderson, and Molina are hitting .250 or below with RISP.
The other problem with the offense is hitting LHP. Scioscia has tried to put in so many different right handed hitters, but the results are usually the same. Cliff Lee should not have tossed a 3 hitter at us last Tuesday.
Napoli, Kotchman, Figgins are batting less than .200 vs LHP and Cabrera is hitting just .211. With Kotchman, it's expect since he bats left handed. But there should be no excuse for Figgins, Napoli, or Cabrera to hit that low.
Casey needs the at bats, but I wouldn't mind seeing him platooning with Quinlan at 1st right now.
