Alex Rodriguez is the apparent MVP through at least the first quarter. Everything the Yankees have done from spring training through signing Clemens to shore up an injured rotation, says that they're not gonna trade A-Rod. They may lose him in free agency, but even in that lineup, he and Jeter are the indispensable offensive presences that will get them the wildcard when Boston takes their division.

There's no such thing as a "rebuilding year" in Steinbrenner's world. They play out a season to the bitterest end with the superstars they bought previously, and if it doesn't add up they eventually allow free agents out and sign a bunch more in December.

Not gonna happen

They're not going to trade our only veteran catcher to the Yanks for some cast offs. Trying to include Arod in conversations for JMo would be like me going into a Kia dealership and the dealership asking if I had any interest in trading in my Rolls Royce.
