I hope this is not true, but Peter Gammons just reported on ESPN that the Toronto Blue Jays may be looking to move some of their star players, in particular Troy Glaus. He says the DODGERS of all teams are interested in acquiring him.
I absolutely hated seeing the front office give Glaus his walking papers after the 2004 season. I knew it would be a big mistake and saw it coming from a mile away (all the hype and hyperbole about Dallas McPherson was the writing on the wall). Needless to say hindsight is 20/20 for Stoneman. He would have been the big bat we were missing in our lineup over the last two years.
But now, if this comes to pass and Glaus is traded to the Blue Bastards I think I will be beside myself. It will be even worse when he helps lead our crosstown rivals to a Division Crown. We can't let this happen.
My plea to Stoneman: Go out and get Troy back. He would be the protection we need for Vlad and would catapult us back into contention for a Championship.
The Jays need pitching in the worst way and we have it. If Ricciardi didn't bite on a package of say, Saunders and Aybar or Saunders and Mathis I think I would offer Santana straight up to get Troy. DON'T let the Dodgers snatch him up! If they do they may be taking back Southern California bragging rights in October.
