Jim Rome: Angels fan

Anybody watch Rome is Burning today? The subject of the "Final Burn" was how the Angels are the new L.A. team. He was absolutely merciless slamming the Dodgers and basically singing the Angels praises, and he destroyed Jeff Kent in the snottiest way possible. It was just awesome. Anybody who responds to this with the tired "Jim Rome is a dick" comment wasn't watching today's show.

This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan. Tell us what you think and how you feel.

When you're hot
Jim Rome is your biggest booster.

totally
but still, it was pretty funny

You know
I was watching that today, too... Generally, Jim Rome just says things to piss people off, and I'd venture a bet that he's doing nothing different at the moment.

I would believe him to be an Angel fan simply based on demographics and his locale, though I think he's just ruffling some Chavez Ravine feathers for the sake of backlash. He's a glutton for big mouths, and picking on (one of the) biggest douche bags in the game (Jeff Kent, et al) would almost assuredly get him some high profile returned guff.

I want a transcript of that, though, because I need to show it to my friends and how scathingly merciless his decimation of the Dodgers was.

He's said more than once
that he grew up a Dodger fan, and that Ron Cey was his favorite player.

So, Will Farrell is a dick, then too?
Also from Irvine...

:)

Hey
I'm from Irvine. Salmon used to live there and Mark Mcquire lives there too. Best city other than Anahiem in OC.

Best Cities in OC
  1. Anaheim
  2. Knotts Scary Farm

No offense
But that's just laughable.  I'll choose the color of my own home, thanks.
Wait...he did what?

burn
hahaha, so true.  It's also pretty hard to find a gas station in Irvine when all the business signs are 3 feet tall.
I still want to DFA Hillenbrand

Are there gas stations here?
(I also live in Irvine)

I usually have to drive all the way to Tustin to fuel up!  ;)

Yeah
It's the tan stucco building surrounded by hedges and/or palm trees.  Know where I mean?

You sure?
Because you just perfectly described my Irvine apartment complex...

And the grocery store across the street, come to think of it...

And all of the 15 Starbucks locations...

by HeyLegacy on May 22, 2007 10:51 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

is that what that is?!
Dude, I used to drive between San Diego and LA every weekend, and I'd want to stop in Irvine to fill up, and I could never find a station!

I drove for 15 minutes after getting off the 5, never finding one, my car almost imploding from the lack of fuel.

Yeah, '86 never happened to me, either!
Because I was a freshman at UCSB that quarter....

Gotta love the wheat crust!  And how they fill it with pizza sauce!  Never went to the SB Woodstocks, but I was a regular at the one in SLO.

You are two people in one?
Alumnus = 1 person
Alumni = 2 people

And surely, you drank like a fish on Tuesday nights just as you did on Friday nights.  DP, ST, FT, it all blended into one as you stumbled from slum to slum in IV.

Okay....
Is that why all the tools from Poly kept showing at parties in IV?  I was always amazed at all the shit those losers would talk on UCSB, yet they kept showing up.  Your little barb is a good reminder of this.

Better School, Better location, and most importantly better looking women.

Yeah, sure.  It was funny.... if you were 8 years old on the school playground.

Jim Rome
I think that Jim Rome's interview's of the athletes, entertainers, etc... are the best in the biz.

I could do without the clones and their "takes."

by cupie on May 21, 2007 6:16 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Didn't Terry Collins make Rome's list
of Athletes that bear a striking resemblance to rats (of course, Randy Johnson and Mike Shanahan had to be on there)?

Annoying, isn't it.  Somehow, he made it a career.

by LosAngel on May 21, 2007 6:38 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Another funny thing about Rome
You know how they're always, "Live, from Los Angeles!", and he's all "a tre-MEN-dous Friday to you from Los Angeles," etc.?

Well, the show is done behind the Orange Curtain, and has been for a while now. It's considered bad form to point this out, but it's true.

by mattwelch on May 21, 2007 7:10 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

OC is L.A.
I know this is bad form to point this out, but it IS true !!!!!!!!!!
