L.A ANGELS of ANAHEIM Game 46/162

GAME THREAD - Angels @ Striped Feline Zoo Tenants - 4 pm
John LACKEY vs Mike MAROTH

Star-divide

Random Song Lyrics
If you could see me now
you'd find me being brave
and trying awfuly hard
to make my tears behave

We swept the Dodgers, they swept the Cards.
Thanks for handling the A's, we're not the Redbirds...

That reminds me.
I got one of those, on the suggestion of Rev...

$6.75 and way too rich and creamy for my liking.  Everyone else seemed to enjoy it though, so what do I know.

Whatever
Granny right now still makes it a one run game.... and then K Rod can get my fantasy team a save so its ok.

by Pwn on May 22, 2007 6:44 PM PDT reply actions

Sure is
If the batter in the hole represents the tying run its a save situation.

GMJ gets
a mention don't ya think?  If he had not made that shoestring catch in, what the 4th inning?, Tigers would have scored at least two....

GMJ defense was amazing too
but OC also had the offense to top it off

I be optomistic and say they are turning it around and they blow.

So I hate OC and Blowpoli and I hope they die.

Okay so what you're saying is...
The Angels performance depends on whether or not you hate nap and OC.  So why don't you hate katrina and figgy some more then?

Ridiculous...

by Los Angeles de Anaheim on May 22, 2007 6:58 PM PDT reply actions

Venting time
I said this over a month ago, I'll say it again.

Oliver doesn't throw hard enough to blow it by hitters.
He doesn't throw soft enough to screw up hitters timing.
He doesn't have a funky wind-up to deceive hitters.

He has a lifetime ERA over 5, didn't pitch in MLB in 2005, and his stats last year were compiled in:
> AAA+ league
> pitching in an extreme pitcher's park (Shea Stadium)

AND YET!  Joe Saunders toils in the minor leagues.

Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!

by Fan Since 1981 on May 22, 2007 6:58 PM PDT reply actions

It's better for Saunders in AAA
He needs starts, and we've already got Moseley in the pen, so Saunders wouldn't get consistent work.

Oliver was decent in the 8th, he just shouldn't go more than an inning when we're ahead -- we gotta have someone sucky to mopup.

I messed with Texas!

by Los Angeles de Anaheim on May 22, 2007 7:00 PM PDT up reply actions

I wish both Saunders and Mosely
could get work out of the pen, now that Speier is out for awhile.  Then Hector and Oliver can stay in the clubhouse and play PS3.

by Fan Since 1981 on May 22, 2007 7:02 PM PDT up reply actions

If he has to be anywhere...
Saunders might as well be dealing with hitters' parks and high altitude and getting innings in rather than getting 1 or 2 batters at a time at best as the LOOGY. I suspect that's the reason he isn't doing the role instead of Oliver.

Can we now all agree that the Angels' pen worked better when we WEREN'T trying to conform to everyone else and shoehorning a lefty in there? Since Schoeneweis I don't think we've had anyone in the LOOGY role who actually managed to get lefties out, let alone anyone else.

Hey guys - The Angels WON
The team is playing great except for Oliver's melt down.  Much better than last year. Much better than many other teams.
Can we get back to enjoying the WIN
