Newest Poll

I can't believe there are actually people out there who don't like Vin Scully.

Star-divide

Vin Scully is without a doubt the greatest commentator in any sport. I am ashamed of any of you who do not agree.  He may be a little past his prime, but he still is the best.  Do you not like Rick Monday either?

This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan. Tell us what you think and how you feel.

Vlad puddle story
He should tell that one again.  It is great.
I'm giving Figgins a big F U. Seattle isn't winning 90. I am not worried.

Rick Monday is an abomination
But Vin Scully is the best ever, still.

by mattwelch on Jun 15, 2007 4:06 PM PDT reply actions

Damn
I was hoping this was the name your favorite Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School poll?

Hey matt', what's your take on the Dodgers' #27?

by Bilko 420 on Jun 15, 2007 4:16 PM PDT reply actions

I know!
I wish everyone everywhere agreed with my opinions too!  There would be a DH in the NL, Al Gore would be President and Ticketmaster would have to pay ME to order tickets from them.

Fucked up world we live in...

Wait...he did what?

vin scully, makes me go like this...
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

by CaLiKrAzY on Jun 15, 2007 4:25 PM PDT reply actions

Better then...
Having Steve Physioc saying "THE WIZARD OF OC" twenty times in a 35 minute time span. That just makes me want to shoot myself in the head.

No, it's not.
The only part of Scully's broadcast I enjoyed was when he said he was going to shut up and listen to Vlad bat on Friday.

by shiftyeyedgoat on Jun 16, 2007 9:57 PM PDT up reply actions

Mm...
I'll be honest. After playing one of my PS2 Baseball games (forget which one) that had him commentating... There was that point where I'd have heard every single line recorded... then continuing on eeevery tiiime... (and honestly, having nothing was not a way to go) I can't handle his voice anymore..... Lame Reason, but that's it for me...
Chart it up! Game on!

Too much of a good thing dep't
I hear ya.

Monday sucks.  Vinny has lost a brain cell or two but is still the best, which maybe says more about the low quality of the guys out there trying to do it than it does about him.

Ervin Santana To AAA! (But only for road games.)

by scareduck on Jun 15, 2007 5:39 PM PDT up reply actions

Vin Scully's great
The Buckner call in '86 was on of the all time greats: "It's behind the bag!"  The guy is a fan first and a commentator second.
Captain, there are doubt's...

To this day,
I still cannot buy a pack of Farmer John hot dogs without hearing Vin's voice in my head.

by Higz on Jun 15, 2007 5:55 PM PDT up reply actions

I like Scully
But he tells too many stupid stories.  Who could forget the Vlad puddle story?  Or the one about Bartolo's pet donkey, Pablo?

by NPCody on Jun 15, 2007 6:20 PM PDT reply actions

I dig the stories but I've never heard the puddle
story.  The donkey one I've heard.

Tell you the truth I'm surprise more people don't copy his style.

LOL
During the series in Anaheim, he called GA "Brady Anderson."
Bring back Al Wisk!!!

Vin Scully
the focal point of all circular logic.

Person one: "why is Vin the greatest?"
Person two: "Because he's VIN SCULLY!"

that would be every vin scully debate i've ever heard.

he's not the worst, but jesus christ...the best ever?  bullshit.  the guy prattles on forever in that terrible, droning voice of his.  during the mets-dodger series last week, he talked for an entire half inning about schoenweis' nut cancer.  i've never heard a man so enthralled by testicle-talk.

the man could put me to sleep during a day game in which i had just loaded up on caffiene pills.  boring, droning, uninteresting tales, and not a single fucking moment of silence.

I find that
people who grew up on him love him and younger people who did not grow up on him are not too enchanted with him...

Exactly
Nail, meet hammer.
Wait...he did what?

by ReggieBullits on Jun 16, 2007 10:01 AM PDT up reply actions

While I agree...
Scully may be the best commentator in baseball, calling him the best in sport may be a bit of a stretch. Saturday Mornings with Keith Jackson, or old-school Chick Hearn are up there as well.
Lamest poster of all-time.

by ineptituderunsamok on Jun 16, 2007 6:19 PM PDT reply actions

We are
exact opposites on this. When I see Jon Miller and his 'Big Red Machine' buddy doing a game, I watch on mute.

Scully paints a picture, whereas Millers panders to Morgan ad nauseum who can't get past the fact that his playing days are over, and that there are teams that may be better than the Reds.

I'm biased but...
I think Dick Emberg was awesome with the Angels.
Nolan Ryan for president!

Certainly
the best (with the Halos.)

why is vin a subject on an Angels blog
We don't care about him. Who cares about the dodgers? Angels Rule, dodgers drool. Period.
