Icky Thump in Hollywood last night rocked.

I missed the game live last night, had to watch it on Tivo this morning, but it was for a pretty good reason.

We got to go to the White Stripes free performance at the old Tower Records on Sunset last night.

Awesome. Just awesome.

Jack White is incredible. Every time I see him my expectations get larger and still he never disappoints.

A couple of the new tracks rock OUT. It was very cool how they decorated the old Tower Records, and it was great to have Jack Black come out and introduce Jack White.

All in all a great show, the place is so small to see someone so HUGE.

By the way, am i the only one who took a deeeply perverse pleasure in the once mighty Tower Records going bankrupt after gouging all of us all these years?

Fuck Tower Records, although it was nice to be able to find a lot of hard-to-find DVDs there.

Tower Records is an institution in Sacramento despite its demise. It all started here and grew into a huge conglomerate and the Solomon family eventually lost control due to bloating debt and some business missteps. They are very active in the community. However, I only shopped their bargain bins and do most of my record shopping at Amoeba in Berkeley. Or if I'm in LA, Rockaway Records in Silver Lake is pretty cool.
