Pitching woes - last 30 days

So, as the Rev alluded to with the Colonel coming up from AAA to give everyone an extra days rest - the pitching is beginning to look a little brittle compared to our usual high standards.  The offense is bailing them out at the moment.

If you look at the basic stats (I mean really basic - I'm not a numbers kinda guy) over the last 30 days, whilst most of the numbers are a little down, the one that really sticks out a mile is the number of home runs that the Angels staff is dishing out:

38 in 30 days, 2nd worst in MLB, contributing to a 4.63 team ERA

(Athletics 18, Mariners 17 for the record).

So my question is this? Is this tiredness, injury or are we being too aggressive on the mound?

And more to the point, what's the solution?

This might be one for the true stats geeks out there...
