Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

Excuses are like A's.... everyone has one.

After seeing how much Oakland moans and groans about injuries doing them in this year, I decided to mentally (always a dangerous thing) chart the Angel injuries. I really think we have had more than our share too, it's just that others have picked up the slack. Feel free to help me out because I am sure I will miss some.

Garrett Anderson (multiple visits to the DL)
Kotchman (current injury at least and one other?)
Kendrick (out for at least a month at one point)
Figgins (ditto)
McPherson (gone for the season)
Rivera (almost all season)
Izturis (still out)
Hillenbrand (couple of weeks, right?)
GMJ (today)
Spier (man we miss that dude)
Colon (still not right?)
Weaver (missed most of first month)

Who did I miss? Can the A's top that?

problem is
That the A's have the record they do inidcates that SOME of their replacements have been okay, so the guys who were hurt gave way to guys who could hold their own - so we lost Anderson but they never see Jack Cust with a healthy original lineup.

And can you imagine
What their pitching staff would look like with Loaiza pitching instead of Gaudin? And yet some of them act like Loaiza would be some kind of holy saviour had he been healthy.

Loaiza
DUI is worse than 'roids, but the sanctimonious pricks comprsing the Choakytown fanbase scoff over Bonds (ignoring Canseco and McGwire and a juiced 1989 Series) and await the return of the man whose booze-abuse could have killed innocent people on the highway.

Would you count these short stints?
Casey - hit elbow out a game or two
John - now - shoulder tightness- missed 1 start
Willits - hamstring out a couple games
Escobar - 15 days DL right shoulder irritation.
Colon - was it his foot or ankle or back or something

Count them all
I know the A's do. Of course, w/o Anderson going down, we may never have discovered Willits. But that is just testimony to our depth.
Nolan Ryan for president!

Hey, if the A's hadn't had THEIR injuries
They wouldn't have found Jack Cust, or called up Travis Buck. It evens out.
